| Unspotted From The World
(Pg 1 of 2) James 1:27, in part reads, "Pure and undefiled religion . . .. . keep oneself unspotted from the world." NKJV What does it mean to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Jesus declared that He came to seek and save the lost. John the Baptist, while preaching the length and breadth of the Holy Land, pointed to Jesus and declared, "Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world." Our mission as Christians is to go out and change the world. But, first, we must change. Frequently I see someone wearing a shirt with the letters WWJD on it or a leatherette Bible cover with WWJD on it. For the most part, my observation has been that these people give little regard to "What Would Jesus Do?" Their lives do not portray such a concern. To wear or display WWJD seems to primarily be a means of appearing spiritual. My friend, brother and sister, our goal is not to appear spiritual, but to BE spiritual, by a manifested change in life style. I had the pleasure of hearing the testimony of Colonel Sanders, the famed founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, several years ago. He said, "It was over a month before I could speak. The Holy Spirit had a hard job cleaning up my language so I could talk with out uttering a foul word or telling a dirty joke." Being a Christian is not an easy job. We have to give up our old life style and take on a new one. ". . . . if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2nd Corinthians 5:17 - NKJV. In Ephesians the apostle Paul, in the latter part of the fifth chapter is speaking of the husbands with their wives and comparing that relationship to the relationship between Himself and the church. In verse 27, Paul is saying, "That He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish." NKJV When a builder builds a new building he wants to make it beautiful and attractive. To do so he is careful that he uses only perfect stones, bricks, blocks so as to achieve perfection. "you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house . . . . " I Peter 2:5 NKJV Continued on next page...................>> Just a thought from Parson Don across the Garden Gate Donald R.
