| Unspotted From The World
(Pg 2 of 2) As we each journey through life on this planet we are, whether we believe it or not, or like it or not, destined for eternity. Of this we have no choice. However, we do have a choice in how we will spend eternity. The vast majority of humanity will spend eternity in torment in a place where "Their worm does not die and the fire is not quinched." Mk 9:44 NKJV . But few are those who will enter into eternal joy. Like Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16:19-31, we must make the right choices now, not later. Later can be too late. To his chagrin, that is what the rich man found out. All too many Christians can not be distinguished from the people of the world. I have seen Christians bellying up to the bar with unbelievers, smoking with unbelievers, cursing and telling dirty jokes with unbelievers, living a life of riotious living with unbelievers, cheating on their spouses just like unbelievers, wearing their skirts much too short like unbelievers. No wonder Christians have no effect and the church is having little influence in the world. Sixty years ago when I was just a young man there was no such thing as Mega-churches. But the churches that we had were effective and righteousness abounded across our nation. When I was hitch-hiking to and fro from Louisiana to Tennessee, attending seminary, I had no fear of by whom I was picked up. As soon as I had a ride and the kind driver found out I was a Christian, if he was smoking he immediately squelch his cigarrette and told no dirty jokes. It is that way no more. Revival will come to America only after revival has come to the church. We need to get down on our knees and repent, confessing our Christless lives and get back in touch with heaven and allow the Holy Spirit to envelope and over shadow us, transforming our lives into that which we proclaim with our lips, and start proclaiming Christ with our every breath. Let everything we do, say; everywhere we go; everything we wear; declare to the world "I am a transformed Christian." Friends, brothers and sisters, there are no Leopard or Zebra Christians. We are in the world, but not of the world. Just a thought from Parson Don across the Garden Gate Donald R.
