April 1997- present: Agricultural Economist/(Research Consultant/Senior Research Officer/Researcher), Global Research Division, International Water Management Institute. IWMI is one of the sixteen international agricultural research centres under the CGIAR.

2004 – 2005: Visiting Fellow, Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka (full-time academic position under inter-institutional arrangements with IWMI and University of Peradeniya). ·

1994/ 1996-97/ 2001: Visiting Lecturer, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. ·

October 1993 - June 1997: Research Assistant/Demonstrator/Instructor, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
