About Me

Sawasdee Krub (Thai for 'Hello'),

On Sunday, 25 of July 1971 in Ranong, Thailand, "Suppakul" family was glad to have a new-born member. Of course, it is me. My name is Panuwat with nickname of "Tom". I have an elder brother (named Mod, Itsara) and a younger sister (named Nam, Surattana).

My education started when I was four in the pre-school class at Sahaiwit School in my hometown, I spent my time until finishing elementary level. In 1983, I entered Phichai Ratanakarn School for my grades 7-9.Then I moved to Samsen Wittayalai School in Bangkok for my grades 10-12. With no doubt, it was one of greatest moments in my life.

By passing the national entrance examination with my first choice, I went to Kasetsart University (KU) in 1989, studying in the field of Product Development under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Penkwan Chompreeda. For 4 years, this was another great moment with my classmates. Apart from study, I spent many times for traveling, brush-walking, and camping with my gang.

After I completed my first degree, I was bestowed a Postgraduate Studies Scholarship from National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to further study in Master degree in the same field under the supervision of Associate Professor Vichai Haruthaithanasan, Associate Professor Dr. Penkwan Chompreeda and Mr. Navin Meenakan. I firstly joined the Department of Food Technology at Silpakorn University (SU) as a lecturer for 6 months, moved to the Department of Packaging Technology at KU since then. I got a Royal Thai Government Scholarship for Master and Doctoral degrees to further study in the area of Packaging Materials.

Under circumstance of the country economic crisis in 1997, the scholarship was delayed. Fortunately, I was granted an Australian Development Scholarship (ADS) by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) to undertake Master degree at School of Material Science and Engineering, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney under the supervision of Dr. Sri Khanta Bandyopadhyay.

After completing this degree, I had a chance to spent with my family in Thailand for 3 months, then I further studied at Packaging and Polymer Research Unit (formerly Centre for Packaging, Transportation and Storage (CPTS)) in Victoria University (VU), Melbourne to pursue my higher degree under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Stephen William Bigger, Associate Professor Kees Sonneveld in conjunction with Professor Dr. Joseph Miltz who is with the Department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (TIIT), Haifa, Israel.

Now I am working at the Department of Packaging Technology, Kasetsart University.

Thank you for your valuable time to get to know about me krub.

All the Best,

Tom
