Hello everyone,
My brother, Gopalan, joins Prasad and Sudarshan in contributing regularly to this Newsletter. He has come up with a tribute to the patriarch of our Naunet family in his piece Down Memory Lane (OUR GREAT, NOBLE ANCESTOR, SULANKURICHI THATHA). Kannan did not find time this month also, but I'm sure he will continue his much-awaited 'Early Days'.
Mukund is back with an autobiographical(?) account - No Problem, I Will Switch Seats. He has not said whether it really happened to him. On reading it, Aarthi said,'How can anyone not like Chicago?' Prasad has come up with another excellent piece (what's new)-Cycle Swamiji - Kumbh Mela Travel Encounter . Sudarshan has contributed two pieces as usual- one being Jokes, Quotes and Trivia and the other being Funny stories.
I hope everyone has visited the Newsletter archives at www.geocities.com/pamrithaarchives, which is a comprehensive authorwise, subjectwise and monthwise archives. It includes everything that was published in the last 27 issues - all the articles, poems, games, photos and everything else.
Since we were extremely busy, neither Amritha nor I found time to write any article. But I have compiled all the other usual features, viz. Crossword Clues , Brain Exercisers and Cryptoquip. Brain Exercisers this time are from the games that I'd organised on April 20th for the family get-together. Editor's Picks at the bottom of this page contain a cartoon and an interesting link.
What is in a name, Shakespeare asked. But Kalabrians believe your name reveals a lot about you. You can read what characteristics my family members have in You want your name analysed? in the section'FROM THE NET'. This section also contains an intereting Driving Licence Application.
Enjoy the Newsletter, but do write about it.
The first feature, as usual, are the old photos.

MY DIARY FOR APRIL 2003 (from 6th Apr. to 6th May)
April 2003 was the busiest month for us in Chennai so far. We had given up a lot of activities like exercises, shuttle, weekly e-mails etc. during this period. I am just giving a brief summary of what we did in April.
6th - 8th went in attending the first Divasam of my father-in-law, two days at Kannan's house in T.Nagar and the third day in Santhanam's house. 6th will be remembered for Neha's patter about
. Since this cannot be explained here, the readers of this Newsletter can ascertain the details on phone or in person.
On 8th evening, Jaya Akka, Raghu, Chandra and Hema came to Aynavaram. We had a hectic and jolly time playing cards, going to the beach and generally gossiping away. Raghu, Chandra and Vidya left for Avalur, near Kanchipuram, for the festival in the Math there. Raghu came back after a coupke of days. He and Amritha visited Landmark, the biggest shop in Chennai for books, music etc. as well as a few temples. Harish, Chandra and I joined them in visiting a few more temples. All of us, including Vidya, ate out.I must repeat an interesting dialogue between me and Raghu when someone commented that Thengai Srinivasan's grand-daughter is an actress.
I : Is her name
Raghu: No, it is
I : It is perhaps
Raghu: It may be
I : It is
Needless to say, everyone around was laughing.
The big event for the month was, of course, the second family get-together organised by us on 20th April. Harish came on a week's leave and Aarthi came only for that day. It was good fun with catering by an outsider (Paal payasam was made by Amritha). This was followed by games (I have given some in the Brain Exercisers section) and Housie. I had made a CD-ROM of all my output (and had included interactive Suprabhatham etc., made by a person known to me for TTD) and gave it to each family. The CD cover was designed by Aarthi. I am sure Prasad will be happy to hear this as he had been telling me for a long time to make the CD. Later many of the family members went to the beach. Aarthi left the same night, while Raghu and Chandra went to Tirumala the following night.
We had a jolly time till Raghu's family left one by one. Vidya left first. Then Raghu went to Italy . Chandra went to Bangalore, came back and left for Dubai on 1st. All of them are back at Sydney.
I was busy in the office as well. My transfer orders finally came and I joined Southern Railway (the building next to Central Station) on 23rd. Right now I continue to look after ICF also.
Bye,
anbudan,
