Floating Log

An inn of Frogmorton, Eastfarthing, on the Great East-West Road about 20 miles west of the Brandywine. On their return from Gondor, the Hobbits hoped to rest there, but Sharkey had ordered it closed along with all the other inns of the Shire.

Forsaken Inn

Forsaken Inn A country inn one day's journey east of Bree, about ½ mile west of Midgewater Creek. It is a safe haven from the elements and the insects of Midgewater, but the fare is ordinary and the brew barely drinkable. The Forsaken inn is generally consider the eastern limit of ordinary travel for Bree folk, so its visitors include a few Men of Bree in addition to travelers on on the Great East Road.
"I don't know if the Road has ever been measured in miles beyond the Forsaken Inn, a day's journey east of Bree," answered Strider.

The Golden Perch

A notable inn of Stock, Eastfarthing, renown for its beer.
"I had counted on passing the Golden Perch at Stock before sundown. The best beer in the Eastfarthing, or used to be: it is a long time since I tasted it."
    - Pippin, A Short Cut to Mushrooms

Gray Swan

Gray Swan Once an elegant eating-place of Tharbad, the abandoned building was repaired by the Rangers III 2115 and operated as an outpost until nearly the end of the Third Age. There are few travelers on the Old North Road late in the Third Age, and the fare and brew at the Gray Swan are barely adequate, but information on events in Dunland, Enedwaith, and Minhiriath is invaluable to the Rangers. The Green Dragon

Sam's favorite inn in Bywater.
"I won't deny I'll be glad to see this Prancing Pony he spoke of. I hope it'll be like The Green Dragon away back home!"
    Samwise Fog on the Barrow-Downs

The Ivy Bush

A popular inn between Hobbiton and Bywater, Westfarthing, The Shire.
He held forth at The Ivy Bush, a small inn on the Bywater road; and he spoke with some authority, for he had tended the garden at Bag End for forty years, and had helped old Holman in the same job before that.

Lonely Oak

Lonely Oak Inn At the time of the War of the Ring, the last remaining inn between Bree and The Shire is the Lonely Oak. The inn is on a ridge on the north side of the Great Road, north of the the Old Forest. There is, in fact, a grove of oaks behind the inn, and more groves in the distance. There are a few scattered Manish farms in the area, but no Hobbits live nearby. The standards for food and brew are set by the Hobbits traveling between Bree and the Shire, which is to say "good." It is frequented by the Rangers who keep watch on the Shire. Fan Fiction - Hildigrim

Old Moss

A popular inn south of the Shire, built when Sarn Ford was re-occupied after the flood of III 2100. It is build on the terrace overlooking the Brandywine, on the river's west side. Along the river is a small community of Manish farmers, and the Old Moss is the only public building in the area. Its food and brew are considered to be surprisingly good, but it is the abundance of Longbottom Leaf that distinguishes the inn. Dwarves are almost never seen at the Old Moss, but Hobbits are almost as common as guests as are the Rangers. Fan Fiction - Hildigrim

The Prancing Pony

The Inn run by the Butterburs in Bree. The largest structure in Bree, near the center of town - at the eastern edge of the market place, next to the town well. The Prancing Pony was one of the series of Inns that once lined the roads of Arnor from the Brandywine to the Loudwater, and from Fornost to Tharbad. At the end of the Third Age, the Prancing Pony was the greatest remaining inn at the time of the War of the Ring.
It had a front on the Road, and two wings running back on the land partly cut out of the lower slopes of the hill, so that at the rear the second-floor windows were level with the ground. There was a wide arch leading to a courtyard between the two wings, and on the left under the arch there was a large doorway reach by a few broad steps.... Over the door was painted in white letters:
THE PRANCING PONY by BARLIMAN BUTTERBUR
    .

Sîrwing

An inn on the east bank of the Hoarwell, upstream from the Last Bridge. It is built amidst the ruins of ancient Armithel from the rubble of the city. Originally built as an outpost for the Rangers, it became a haven for travelers on the Great East road. Its food is simple and its brew is in short supply. The Sîrwing is abandoned at the time of the War of the Ring, and it is mostly vacant during the later part of the Third Age, (after III, 2850), due to the increasing number of trolls and orcs in the nearby Trollshaws. The Sîrwing is one of the few Manish habitations so far east. It is the easternmost outpost of the Rangers, who value it as a source of information from travelers, regarding the High Pass and points eastward. Fan Fiction - Hildigrim

Withyhollow

A humble inn in the Hobbit village of Dwaling, considered to be the farthest reaches of the Shire (Northfarthing). It's food is simple but plentiful and it's brew is quite good, considering the remote setting. The Withyhollow is set in a cove on the eastern side of Dwaling near the river. From the inn, the stonework of the ancient crossing of the Brandywine can still be seen. Fan Fiction - Hildigrim
