warning

WARNING!

Computer motherboards and expansion cards contain very delicate integrated circuit (IC) chips. To protect them against damage from static electricity, you should follow some precautions whenever you work on your computer.

1. Unplug your computer when working on the inside.

2. Use a grounded wrist strap before handling computer components. If you do not have one, touch both of your hands to a safely grounded object or to a metal object, such as the power supply case.

3. Hold components by the edges and try not touch the IC chips, leads or connectors, or other components.

4. Place components on a grounded anti-static pad or on the bag that came with the components whenever the components are separated from the system.

5. Ensure that the ATX power supply is switched off before you plug in or remove the ATX power connector on the motherboard.

notes

NOTES

Make sure you have a large clean work area (such as a dining room table) or a large workbench. Keep all components, tools, and manuals within reach of your work area. DO NOT eat or drink while building your computer. One spill is all it takes to ruin your brand new system. Make sure you have plenty of time to sit down and build your computer. There is nothing more frustrating than getting started on a project and then remembering you have a root canal scheduled in half an hour. Building your very own home PC can be very rewarding, but very time consuming.

lets move on to the Hardware section to see what components you will need.
