Martina was my first gerbil. I got her on May 2003. I made the big mistake that most first time gerbil owners do. I got a lone gerbil. She was also around 3 months old when I got her, so she was pretty old to do a direct introduction. About a month after I got her, I found another little gerbil, Kuzco, to keep with her, and did a very long time split cage with them. After about a month of being split-caged she finally accepted little Kuzco... even though she didn't liked him too much. Now they are inseparable. They didn't had any pups till after 8 months of being together, and have spaced their litters, so I've decided to keep them together. Right now they are over 2 years old, and I doubt that they have any other litter, their last litter was born on January 23, 2005.
