Besides teaching and taking care of my family, I like gardening best.  In summer, if I'm not traveling, I spend most of my days in the garden, planting, watering, fertilizing and most of all, weeding.  In this photo, you can see my tulips at the height of their bloom.  In the background, right near the storage shack, are roses and a fig tree.  To the left is a fish and lily pond.  You can see the statue of an angel, which used to be a water fountain.  My yard is very big, so there is a lot to do.  During the school year, I hardly have any time at all.  I can only try to keep them watered, so that they can continue to grow until I can take care of them in summertime.

My family enjoys our yard very much.  My husband loves to sit and read under the magnolia tree, which you can see on the top right hand corner.  He can sit there for hours.  When they were young, my children and their friends loved to run or bike around the yard.  One time, my daughter and her friend decided to help me "clean" the pond.  They pulled up all the water lilies!  Many family picnics and barbecues have been also held here over the years.

Raccoons and squirrels also love my garden.  The raccoons like to get at the fish, so we have to put up protective wiring around the pond.  Squirrels eat our figs, persimmons and apples before we get around to pick them.  They also bury peanuts in every part of the yard.  Sometimes, it's delightful to find a peanut in the most unexpected corner.
