Over the Christmas holidays, I had mild pain in my lower back, probably
from too much cooking. It persisted for
two months, so I finally went to my internist who diagnosed it as mild
arthritis in the lower back. He gave me
Motrin, a strong painkiller.
However, the Motrin didn’t relieve my pain. Instead it made me fuzzy in the head, and I
felt I couldn’t function clearly. So, I
stopped taking the medication and decided to try acupuncture-acupressure
instead. Some friends referred me to an
acupuncturist in Oakland. I went to him
a few times and I felt much better.
On some cold and wet
mornings, the pain would return, sharper and more severe. On those mornings, I would take a Motrin
pill, so if I make mistakes in spelling, you know why.
