| IF IT'S BROKEN, FIX IT: THE DEFECTS REPORT By S.K.Ong The improvements that have been made thus far in Paradesa Rustica are: - The building of a drain along the outer perimeter of the car park in front of Blocks A and D, to drain off excess water and to prevent damage to internal roads. - The appearance of rubbish bins after more than 12 months follow up by the Defects Committee. - Better TV reception (satisfactory reception on all major channels) for all blocks. - Comprehensive check-ups for lifts. There were very few (or none) cases of residents being trapped in lifts. - Efficient alarm system. It is working well under test conditions. - The installation of steel grating covering the drains around the playground area. - The installation of pneumatic pumps in Blocks B and C. These have improved water pressure. - The construction of steel barriers along high grounds at Block B. - The installation of the boom gate. This has reduced unauthorised entry and untoward incidents. The Defects Committee is extremely happy about these improvements. However, we feel that more improvements are in order and they are that: - Residents get a cleaner swimming pool with better water quality. - More benches be put at the playground area. - Better landscaping work is done in all open areas. - More trees are planted. - Plans for covered carparks are finalised as soon as possible. - Residents get a clean environment, free from litter and pests. - Residents get a canopy for walkways in Blocks A and D. 15 July 2001 marked the end of the 18-month liability period. We hope that everyone has reported his/ her home defects and has had recitification work done to his/ her satisfaction.
