MIKE FROST & the Icemen
MIKE FROST & the Icemen are Brisbane's masters of old-skool blues.

Based in the coastal sub-tropical capital of Queensland, on the East Coast of Australia, this guitar and harmonica-led quartet specialise in the sweet vintage sounds of blues, swing and R&B from the golden era of American vernacular music, adapted to the easy-going Australian lifestyle.

MIKE FROST & the Icemen was formed by singer/guitarist Mike Frost in 1999 as a gtr/bs/dms trio. Initially an outlet for his own songs and those of his early influencs (Hendrix, Clapton, Stevie Ray), the band gradually developed a more traditional flavour as Mike's taste in music broadened to encompass the Chicago blues of Muddy Waters, the Jump blues of T-Bone Walker and the sophisticated stylings of BB King.

The current four-piece lineup with Mark Doherty on harmonica covers those styles and a whole lot more. The band's five-track CD "Live at the Diesel Room" offers a tasty sample of the band's current musical focus.
