Thanks for all your messages.
I've left them anonymous for obvious reasons.
- Really bad news - I know I didn't get over much living
in Berkshire & working weird hours but I always enjoyed reading about who you
had on. Hope you set up somewhere else sometime.
- Sorry to hear the bad news, you've done a great job
over the last few years.
- I really appreciate what people such as yourself do.
The spotlight was a great thing and you can feel proud that you put on
something worthwhile and original.
- This is dreadful news indeed - your venture closing
after all this time. All those interesting performers (to me they are NOT
alternative) will not be seen again at the Wheatsheaf.
- Really sorry to hear this news, I will do my best to
get up to Oxford for one of these last gigs
- My experience of running gigs, hope it helps, is that
when one door closes, another more exciting one tends to be nearer than you
think ... that is if you want to find it.
- I am really really really sorry to hear about this. I
know I seldom turn up, but whenever I do I have had a top quality night out.
and I really appreciate your efforts to provide a forum for local
singer-songwriters. with a proper stage, lights and a proper PA. You've done
excellent work.
- I just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear of the demise of
the Spotlight Acoustic club. I studied a term in Oxford a couple years
ago and enjoyed the times I was there. I only performed in the open mic once,
but I saw what it meant to a lot of people. I am now back home in Chicago,
USA and just wanted to send my condolences.
- I am so sorry to hear that you have to stop running the
Spotlight at the Wheatsheaf. You are an amazing man and give lots of pleasure
to lots of people. I hope that you can find another venue. Write back
and let me know when I can do my last slot. I will try to write a song
about it, but it is hard to make the word "management" rhyme with "c***s".
Lots of love and respect.
- V sad state of affairs. Please keep me posted re your
future endeavours. I was hoping to start booking gigs for next year and had
Spotlight Acoustic nights at the Wheatsheaf in Oxford high on my list. Don't
let it get you down and keep up the good work.
- I guess you don't know what you got 'til it's gone...
