| Valentine's Day
By Amanda Dasaro Have you ever wondered what the origin behind Valentine's Day is? It's actually based on a saint: Saint Valentine! It takes place on February 14th of every year and it's a holiday where people who love and/or appreciate one another exchange gifts and cards to show how much one means to another. The gifts usually consist of jewelry, candy, or flowers especially. The two men responsible for the naming of Valentine's Day, who are now saints, were actually martyrs as well. Most people attribute this holiday to these two men, but no one is exactly certain where the date originated from. |

| Passwords, Everything You Need to Know
By Ava Black When you sign up anywhere online you need to create a password. Something that no-one can easily guess and that you will remember. Now if your password is your last name or your pets name, go change it now!! I went to Microsoft.com and gathered some tips to creating a great password! Make it Random it should appear to be a random string of numbers/characters Combine numbers, letters and symbols. The fewer types of characters, the longer you password should be. Use the entire keyboard, and if you can get the character by using the shift key even better!! Use words/phrases you can easily remember but no-one else can. It is alright to write them down! Avoid repeated characters or sequences such as : 11111111 or 12345. Avoid substitution characters such as: H8te, or 4gotten. Avoid your login name. Avoid dictionary words, in any languages. Including miss spelled words, or backwards words. Dont use profanity. Use more than one password around the different sites. Avoid online storage of your password. Six Steps to Creating a Strong Password: Think of a sentence you can remember. Such as: My son John is five years old. Check if the online system can handle that password. If it doesnt convert it, by using the first letter in each word, such as MSJIFYO. Consider swapping numbers where possible and adding random uppercase letters. For example: My sOn JohN iS 5 YeARs oLD. Substitute with some special characters and remove spaces. My$On JoHni$ 5YeAR$ 0lD. Last check your password with a password checker. To test strength. |
