Hogwarts Home to Many
By Beonca Aims When you enter a house after being sorted, did not everyone make you feel at home? Tell you that you are among family now? Try to help you settle in and give you pointers on the ins and outs of the place? Well, that is because you entered a real home. A place that many find to be the first place they come to after taking care of RL stuff. Some call it a sanctuary, others a second home. What ever you call it, given a chance, you too will call it something endearing. For those who come and go, pity you did not stick around. There are so many people here that surely you will find those of like-mind or someone(s) who have similar interests and ideals. So often students make friends with those in their house and even become friends with some in other houses. That is what the BB is for, and Quidditch games and RPG classes, they all bring the houses together and thus bring students together who may not have met others from another house. You have an opportunity to be the person you want to be and hang out with the most interesting characters! It is every one here who makes it special and when someone leaves, its sad, the only recourse is when someone new comes! Many say this generation has a short attention span, I say, look at the length of those here that should dispel that myth. I know when things are crappy, I go hang out in my common room, there is always something going on that will make me laugh and be glad I got this second home to come to and just have a magical time. |
| An Update from Your Student Council Hogwarts doesn't usually hear from the Student Council or what they've been doing, so here's a quick update on what's been happening and things to look forward to! The council this year is led by Roxanne Whitez of Gryffindor and, of course, is overseen by Professor Delia. Contributing are Luna Lovegood, Adam Crawford Jr, Bryony Casten, Zela Marionette, Joe Nworb, Will Potter and Allegra Saxe-Attenburgg. In addition to putting out the Owl Gazette each month the Student Council has been working on the upcoming Winter Olympics, under the general instruction of Joe Nworb. As well as this we've been keeping up with the Student-Council run shops, are working on updating a new Student Council page, and is finally on the way to finishing up the drawn-out project of the Welcome Wagon. Keep your eyes peeled for more news and activities brought to you by the Student Council! |
| Registration Notes
By Ava Black Classes are still in full swing here at Hogwarts. To register you must first purchase your supplies and get them in your locker. Then you can go to the registration office and submit a registration form. After that you must await hearing from either Head Boy or Girl telling you if you may start classes. This can take some time so please be patient. If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks, contact your prefect first and they will begin checking the process for you. |
| Poetry Club Update
By Myrrima Goldenleaf Wow it has been a long time since I wrote here! First off, I'd like to get to the results for the last three contests: August, September, and November. (yeah, I know, a long time ago, right?) So, for what I'm pretty sure is a record, the winner for all three contests is Areyna Havic from Slytherin! Congratulations Areyna! You may view all entries here (August), here (September), and here (November). Absolutely WONDERFUL poems Areyna! Secondly, I would like to inform all of you that, except for a very few poems from the July contest I believe, all poems in all past contests have the author's name attached to them so that it is no longer a mystery for who wrote which poem. Thirdly, and sadly for me, I would like to inform you all that I am no longer in charge of the poetry club. I haven't been able to give it as much attention as I would like to and so I have left it in the capable hands of Prof. Dickinson and everyone running the writing club. I know they will do a great job and I'll miss working with you guys! *hugs* Good luck and have fun! Finally, I advise you all to go to the poetry and writing club and read a few of the wonderful works that are there! It is really worth your while. Have a great day, have fun, and keep on writing! :D |
