A Takeover
By Luna Lovegood of Ravenclaw

Arya Drottningu, an active new student, is trying-and succeeding-to take over Amber Thatcher's unofficial title, Queen of Games. Amber is startled by this news and is doing her best to keep her title. I asked Arya about why she was trying to do this. Here is her answer:

"Amber's my mentor, you see, so it's only obvious that I would try to take over her title! Games are for everyone, you know, and you can't just have one person to top them all, now can you! So, my goal is to at least tie to her title."

And there you have it. One new member already trying to overthrow someone in their title.
A Break-up
By Luna Lovegood

As you have read in my other article, "A Takeover," Amber and Arya are competing for the title of "Queen of Games," but what you dont know is that there is someone who is trying to break their chains. This young lady's name is Erica Lovegood. What she is doing is trying to do is to post in-between Amber and Arya in the games. When I asked Erica why she was doing this, she responded:

"Oh, after reading through the posts in one of the games I saw that only 2 people were posting(Amber-Arya) and I felt like breaking the chain of the same 2 over and over again. Unfortunately it started an Arya-Erica chain, an Amber-Erica chain and somehow got back to the original chain I was trying to stop in the first place."

So with her trying she is not succeeding but helping Arya and Amber along with their trying to get/keep the title of Queen of Games.

Potions Explosion
By Mystie Morrane

It happened again! Lyra Sylvertongue in the reason for the recent blow up at Hogwarts.  The girl has been out to some illegal potions brewing at one of the many chambers and classrooms at Hogwarts. During this practice hour, the girl went to use some ingredients from one of the stores in Knockturn Alley. Miss Sylvertongue used to be familiar with the art of potions brewing and the correct use of ingredients, until this very day. Her practice ended up in a blow up. Lyra was brought to the schools hospital wing instantly and is still there. The Sylvertongue-daughter is still located there, as she needs to recover from the shock and the different burnings all over her body.  We will inform you about her current state as soon as we get more information about Miss Sylvertongue.
Name Inspirations
By Amber Thatcher

All of us have a name that we use.  Whether it is from the Harry Potter books, imagination, or another source, we all chose our names for a reason.  I wanted to find out, and share those reasons; the stories behind our names can be very interesting, and the history and origins are just as rich!

To start off I would like to tell you the story behind my name:
Amber: I chose Amber because at the time, I had just finished reading a book, where this was a name used as an alias by the main character.  I thought that the name sounded really nice, and the fact that I also like the color and gemstone helped me make my decision.  Amber is a word derived from Old French and Latin from Arabic ambar.  It was first used as a given name at the end of the 19th century.
Thatcher: My chose of Thatcher was more of a look randomly through name generators, address books, the yellow pages, until I found something, or got an idea.  Thatcher was my final choice because it goes fairly well with Amber, and I hadnt really come up with anything else.  Thatcher comes from the occupation of thatching, or covering a roof in straw.  Originally it came from the Middle English word thachen.  The Old English version of this was paeccan or to cover or roof.
Summer Levy is the Senior Prefect of Ravenclaw, this is how she got her name:
Summer: The main character of one of her favorite movies of all time was named Summer, so she always loved that name.  When she took the sorting quiz here, she wasnt going to use her real name, and this was the only name she could think of off the top of her head.  Summer is the name of a season from the Old English word sumor; it is now used as a given name because of the pleasant associations and sound.
Joan: Summer picked her middle name by going with one that flowed with the rest of her name.  She also decided to use her middle name of Joan to develop her characters background and family.  Joan also became the name of Summers mother. Joan is an English name, but it came from the Old French Johanne, and Latin Johanna.  In England it was the usual feminine form of John form the Middle English period onwards, along with Jane.  One of the most famous Joans in history, is Joan of Arc (or Arcadia), a young woman who claimed to have heard the voice of God talking to her.  She convinced the French ruler to allow her to lead the French army against the English, which she won the battle in 1429.  She was captured and convicted of witchcraft at the age of 18 or 19.
Levy: This name was made up; she originally registered in forums as Summer, with no last name or middle name thought up of yet.  She was playing around with letters, and came up with Levy.  However, this is an actual surname.  To levy actually means to collect taxes or wages, to draft someone in to the military, or to wage war.  Another origin of Levy is Jewish.  It is from the Biblical personal name Levi, from a Hebrew word meaning joining.
