Magical item: Floo Powder
By Hufflepuff House

Floo powder is a silvery powder that was invented by Ignatia Wildsmith in the 1200s. When this powder is thrown into a fire lace, it allows witches or wizards to magically travel anywhere. Floo powder also lets witches or wizards to magically communicate between fireplaces by the Floo Network. When the powder is thrown into the flame, it turns an emerald green. To travel, a witch or wizard steps into the flame and clearly states where they wish to go. To communicate, a witch or wizard throws the powder in the flame and put their head through the flame and states which fireplace theyd like to talk to.

By Hufflepuff House

Dudley Dursley is Petunia and Vernon Dursleys only son. The Dursleys live on number 4 Privet Drive Little Whinging Surrey. Dudley always screamed for sweets, had tremendous tantrums which included throwing cereal at the wall. In ten years, Dudley was still chubby and had long curls, just like when he was a baby. His personality didnt change much either. He hates exercise unless it involves punching someone. Whenever Dudley wants his way, he pretends to cry, which this tactic works on his mother since she dotes on him.
Magical Creature of the month: Niffler
By Hufflepuff House

Nifflers are extremely good at finding lost treasures. Nifflers are black fluffy long-snouted creatures which burrow in dirt as if the dirt was water. Even though the Niffler is gentle affectionate, they are attracted to anything shiny, which makes them hard to control. Most Nifflers are kept by goblins since theyre so good at finding lost treasure. Nifflers live in lairs that can be up to 20 feet underground and can have leaders of 6-8 young.
Wizarding place of the month: Queer-ditch Marsh
By Hufflepuff House

This marsh was founded over 800 years ago by witches and wizards to play in ever since they founded a new game to play with broomsticks and a leather ball. Soon after, they added several heavy rocks which were bewitched to knock players off their broomsticks. This whole business was reported by Gertie Keddle in her diary which is now displayed in the Museum of Quidditch in London.
Potion of the Month: Boil Cure Potion
By Hufflepuff House

The ingredients for this potion are dried nettles, crushed snake fangs, stewed horn slugs, and porcupine quills which are added after taking the cauldron off the fire. If the porcupine quills are added before the cauldron is taking off the pot, then the mixture produces clouds of acid green smoke and a loud hissing is heard. This melts the cauldron and burns holes in peoples shoes.
Muggle Place of the month: Somerset
By Hufflepuff House

Somerset is a county located in Southeastern England. It is the home of the Modesty Rabnott Golden Snidget Reservation. It is also the sight of a well known disaster that hit this area in the summer of 1996. A group of death eaters as well as a giant caused widespread destruction, which Muggles blamed, was a hurricane.

Gryffindor is happy!
By Kimmie Brandon

We arent just the brave and clever Lions; no we are happy on top of it. How I can claim something like this? Pft, thats easy, I have proof. Look here. =D

Happy because I can be. (Leah Black)
I'm happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy because Gawyn is happy because I'm happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy because Gawyn is happy because I'm happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy because Gawyn is happy because I'm happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy because Gawyn is happy because I am happy. (Kimmie Brandon)
I'm happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy because I'm happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy because I'm happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy because I'm happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy because I am happy because Kimmie is happy. (Gawyn Crossguard)
I'm happy cause I moved my room and didn't kill my back! (Vicktor Krum)
I'm happy because I started doing Yoga. (Professor Opal)
Happy because I have someone to post with. Hi Gawyn! (Megan Miller)
Happy because it's better to be that way. (Felicity Hedwig)
I'm happy because I finished my midterm exam. (Fiona Chauvet)
Happy because I know that getting dirty is the best part about climbing trees. (Leah Black)
Happy because I can watch Smallville all day, and not have anyone tell me to go outside. (Gawyn Crossguard)
Happy because I have chocolate and can tease Amber about it. (Gawyn *rolleyes)

Yes, I could go on here, but then I would give away all the little secrets of Gryffindor which would cause Gawyn to blush again, since it would give away how much he is actually teasing us. Yes, I mean it. =P
Writing Club Contest Winner
By Ava Black

The Writing Club held a contest in April. The contest was to write a short story but you had to include the line: Before I could stop it, it landed on her (or his) head with a loud splat. The line had to be bolded in the short story. This months winner was, well ME, Ava Black. I encourage you to join a club they are loads of fun and a great opportunity to earn house points. The Writing/Poetry club is really a hopping hangout I hope to see you there!
Tom Riddle
By Ava Black

Have you met Slytherins Heartthrob Tom Riddle? Well if you havent I suggest pming him straight away. He really enjoys talking with people from every house in fact he secretly wishes he was a Hufflepuff. Be sure to ask him about it in that pm! If you havent gotten your button you can ask for one of those as well, half the school has them now and you shouldnt be the last! So if you see the handsome boy walking the corridors dont hesitate to stop him and say hi! He will really LOVE IT!
Decision Making Made Smart
By: Jennifer Kull (JUNK)
[[Info found on liraz.com]]

Thanks to a wonderful source, there are many tricks and tips to better
decision making this spring! Here is a bulleted list of what I found the
most important, and summarized for your useful knowledge. Please decide
wisely!

Be sure to choose based on what is right, not who is right.
Write down the pros and cons of a line of action. It helps you thinking
clearly.
Make decisions as you go along. Do not let them add up. An entire list of
many little decisions could be harder to deal with than one big decision.
Recognize that you cannot know with 100% certainty that your decision is
correct because the actions to make it are in the future.
Remember that not making a decision is a decision not to take action.
Trust yourself to make a decision and then to be able to adopt the
consequences, whether good or bad, appropriately.
Don't waste your time making decisions that do not have to be made.
Always see if there are other, better, actions you could make before you
begin.
Along with the pros and cons, think What may go wrong if I make this
decision?
As part of your decision making process, always consider how the decision is
to be carried out.
As soon as you believe youre sure which decision youre going to make, set
all the facts aside and let it work itself around in your subconscious for a
while.
Brainstorming alternative solutions with others will gain fresh ideas.
Do not take up too much time TALKING about what decision to make. Make it
and carry it through. Afterwards, right down what worked out, what didnt, and how you may be able to improve next time.
Gryffindors Many Houses
By Kimmie Brandon

Im still quite new to this, but every time we have a Point-a-Thon or a Post-a-Thon in our house, there is a sign-up form for it where we have to give our house. One would think its obvious, as we are holding these events in the common room, but no. And it seems some of my house mates dont even know which house they have been sorted into, but look on your own.

House: A little woodcutters hut out in Bungo Bungo Nowhere with a little waterwheel creating electricity for the house.
House: In the Whitez castle. Then again, if you were talking about Hogwarts, I would be talking about Slytherin. But you wouldn't need to know that
House: GRYFFINDOR (fooled ya, didn't I?)
House: Work-o-holics
House: The House of Fred.
House: I don't remember. Could someone please kindly lead an old woman back to her house?
House: When you find my brain to tell me which house I'm in, let me know!
House: A nice brick one with a nice picket fence and trees and a little swing set and... OH that kind of house... Gryffindor
House: A nice little shack out in Bungo Bungo Nowhere, guarded by a fire breathing dragon and an interestingly evil gnome.
House: Pretty Princesses
House: Somewhere out in Nowhere's Land. <3
House: That reddish one
House: Missing In Action
House: All of them
House: Again, I TOLD YOU I'M A SLYTHERIN!
House: I don't know!
House: Don't worry, I don't know, either.
House: 42
House: Pretty Paws
House: you really don't wanna know
House: somethingorotherisuppose
House: Sparkleypoo (yes I stole it)

As you can see, some are very creative when it comes to which house they are in. However, there are others who seem to have no house at all, since they just leave this part of the form blank. I dont know if this is only Gryffindor, but if so, Ive found the reason why theyre so happy: because they are crazy. <33
Gryffindor Favs: Disney Movie
By Hilary Stevens

So, this month's question asked around the common room was 'What's your favorite Disney movie?' Disney, started in 1923, is one of the most well know companies, having various theme parks, made many of the movies we watch, and owning a fair few theme parks as well. It even has its own TV channel! Disney is known throughout the world for many different reasons. But anyway, on to business!!

A fair few movies popped up in the replies. Rose Wick said the original Pirates of the Caribbean was her favorite. Also hitting the lists were a few classics, such as Sleeping Beauty from Gawyn Crossguard, Toy Story from our own Professor Opal. Stephanie Nicholson and Hermy_own Granger both vouched for the first Princess Diaries, and Kristin Johnson went for Aladdin. Fiona Chauvet picked Treasure Planet, meanwhile Kimmie Brandon said that Peter Pan was her favorite and Leah Black explained that Pinocchio was her pick. And mine? Well, I have to go for The Lion King, for numerous reasons. This obviously shows that there's so much variety around Gryffindor, you be hard pushed to find two people the same!!
A bow with 2 feathers
By The Hufflepuff House

There was a purpled-hair girl,
with a grin, her lips in a curl.
Stealing shoes was her thing,
acting innocent with haloed ring.

This girl is not the important one
There is another member of Hufflepuff
One who likes to worship the sun
Who is not in a poem enough

He's the nice guy in the house
on with the war paint he will douse
But we all know he wouldn't do anything
Which is why I think he's king.

However if you cross him
You may end up with a broken limb!
there is one thing you dont do
never offer an Indian a brew

Ok maybe not
Or just dont give him a lot
But he's still a really great friend
and time with him I like to spend

But dont take him to Diagon Alley
Or that will be your finale
Away from Diagon Alley you must steer
Before he spies the butterbeer

Run, hide, do what you must
for him around the butterbeer you can't trust
Or just take him out for candy
then things are dandy.

But if he does drink too much
To the nearest pole you must clutch
Because once his face has a hint of a glow
He is ready to blow
Not just a walk in the park
By the Hufflepuff House

Swishing, sweeping, howling
were all sounds in the air
suddenly there was growling
but I didn't see anything there

I turned to carry on walking
into where I was forbid
I heard loud talking
I followed the sound and hid

I had never been here before
Who they were I did not know
Suddenly there were more
and two of them were having a row

I could recognize the voices now
I was shocked to understand who
But I dont get why or how
I had to get closer to get a better view

I didn't want to see
It was time to retreat
I don't get how this could be
It was time to beat feet!

But I stopped and peeked
sure enough it was a treat!
There PAD with finger pointing,
"One more remark and you face will be disjoined!"

I struggled forward
Only to face more shock
Pad pulled out a sword
I was ready to take flock

I couldn't believe what I was seeing
She was battling a troll
It was a very large being
then it hit the ground in a roll
