| Book 7
By Ava Black Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows will be released on July 7, 2007. Are you prepared? Many have reserved the book; stores are offering all kinds of incentives to do so! But have you set aside quality reading time to get through the last book? Do you have counselors set up in case Harry actually dies? If not this article is a reminder to set your ducks in order. I suggest having a dear friend with you while reading the book so that if you are to faint from excitement or anguish they can revive you with smelling salts! If you plan on waiting inline at midnight to receive the first copies of your book I suggest wearing comfortable robes and shoes. (You must of course dress up what kind of FAN are you!!) Please be careful of others around you and try not to trample anyone. Keep you wand at the ready in case any Death Eaters try to crash the fun. Remember being prepared is half the battle! |
| The Bulletin Board
By Ava Black House Pride and House Friends are a wonderful thing, no doubt about that. But remember there is another popular hang-out The Bulletin Board! This is a great place to meet new students, play a game and check out new announcements. There is a great RPG area as well! So if you havent registered or just havent popped on there in a while be sure to swing on by and check it out! |
| Slytherin Summer Plans
By Beonca Aims What do Slytherins have in mind for their plans for the summer? Course many will stay put at Hogwarts, but will take holidays; others will do some more extensive traveling. So what is the summer plans? I have talked to some of my housemates, though many do not wish to have their name published, but it you know them, you will recognize their idea of a great summer. One certain Slytherin, who carry mini-mascots about her head, plans on visiting some seminars on ruling the world. Rumor has it another Slytherin housemate has been tapped to do some of the lectures at the same seminars. Another Slytherin, though new to the house, will be on a book tour as she is blazing up the library with many new books, and ones she actually wrote herselfnot taken from others. A few of the more vampire-like students will trek to Transylvania for the Annual Celebrate Vladimir Days, a two-week long celebration with re-enactments, parades, and feasts. Those that fall into the were category will be taking a road trip to the Smoking Ridge Mountains for a retreat and trust-building exercise. Other hot spots for will be Devils Towers, which I hear is a great place, the Bermuda Triangle, and Area 51 in Nevada! What would you expect, the Slytherins to head for the happiest place on earth? |
| Tom Riddle Gains a Following
By Seraphina Rosehill Its not likely that many non-Slytherins will understand, but our own Tom Riddle has earned himself quite the following in the Slytherin common room. Soon after the creation of the Snape Fan Club, Gabby Murphy created a fan club for Tom Riddle, titled The Tomilicious fan Club. The current officers of the club are; Kelsey Nevaeh, President, Gabby Murphy, Vice President, Doormat, Jennifer Kull and Personal Body Guard, Kastidy Hart. Although these four ladies have taken the lead in worshipping Tom and all his charm, there are many more females that are falling at the feet of the Slytherin with the prize winning smile. It seems that Tom has now become the unofficial Slytherin Common Room Stud, with most of the girls clamoring for his attention and fighting to RP with the guy. His penchant for giving gifts, smiling and making each girl feel like she is the only one in the world is working well toward his creation of a large group of followers, likely to become Death Eaters in his following. Kamron better watch out, as it appears a new Casanova is trying to take over and Professor Lockhart, well lets just say his smile and popularity and are now being challenged. |
| New Slytherin Dress Code?
By Anonymous It seems that recently, ever since it was announced that Tom Riddle was single again, that the dress code within the Slytherin common room has taken a drastic change. Before, when someone would enter the common room it was normal to see students studying in their school robes and chattering over their day. But since the Groupie-inspiring announcement was made, it seems that wearing your school robes in the Slytherin common room is a thing of the past. What are they wearing now, you might ask? It is almost too frightful to tell. The girls are now commonly seen grouped around Mr. Riddle wearing their pajamas and flirting with the boy. The trend seems to have gripped the house as it appears that every single night one of these after-hours pajama parties is taking place. The other boys of the house seem to be catching on to Toms little plan, and are now fighting back by appearing at these parties, in their pajamas, as well. I can not be sure if this trend is going to continue, or for how long, but it does seem that Mr. Riddle has gained some popularity with the ladies and they are all clamoring for his attention. Could pajama parties be the new cool way to meet girls and get them to hang out with you? I would recommend that you go and ask Tom Riddle to find out. |
| Interesting Slytherin Locker Gifts
By Seraphina Rosehill One of our best Slytherin traditions is leaving gifts for other students in their locker; a happy surprise awaiting them the next time they stop by to pick-up or drop-off some supplies. Being in the House of Slytherin, you just never know what you might find waiting for you when you open the door many of us have learned to stand FAR back, when doing so. Some of the most unique items that have been found left as gifts are: 1. A button that says Toms Hot, of course, from Tom Riddle 2. A Voodoo doll and all its. supplies. From Jennifer Kull 3. A Beware of Kiley locker sticker. From Yours Truly 4. A random decoration of Silly String, Confetti, Stuffed Animals and Chocolate Pocky. From Kiley Blaire 5. A Basilisk Claw Hour Glass. From Arien Drakon 6. Love Notes Too many people to name Slytherins love.. Well, only other Slytherins, really, and evidence of this fact can be seen in the locker of every Slytherin student. Other gifts, like Pink-toed Baby Tarantulas, Baby Tasmanian Devils and Random images and posters are also frequent types of gifts in the Slytherin common room. The moral of the story is. If youre Slytherin, stand back when you open the door to your locker. You just never know what you may find. |
| Summer Break at Hogwarts
By Jennifer Kull (JUNK) Many do travel the long distances that they must to return to their families. In Slytherin, however, many more decide to stay. Who is more family than the classmates that youve shared all year? Thats right, only Professor Snape. This Summer Break, Slytherins are speculating on which clubs to join, how theyre going to complete activities, where theyre going to spend the most time and, most importantly, how much fun were all going to have! We have all decided that PADs Hogwarts Summers are the best EVER. |
| Slytherin V.S. Hufflepuff: Beyond All Reason
By Jennifer Kull (JUNK) For the simple fact of having a Point-A-Thon, the Slytherins and Hufflepuffs have decided to bust heads once more. It is now looking as if Slytherin is in the lead and will STAY there (no, I am not biasedok, so what if I am?). How many points will this contest procure as a total? Who will come out the leader in all - I mean in points? Which Head of House will have the chance to dress the other? Keep an eye on those points, you Raves, Pennies, and Lions! Twill be an interesting match, thats for sure. |
| Art Club Announcements
By Ava Black Professor Opal the Head of the Art Club announced changes to the Art club. Instead of having pages the whole thing is found on what was the portfolio forum. Students can now sign up there as well as get all the important announcements. Portfolios are still on the boards and you will find a list of points as well. She also added a set of rules regarding Art Theft and is requiring all members to sign them so if you havent head on over and get with the program! On May 3 the Art Club is going to have its first double point day. It should bring a bunch of interesting art work from all the members. |
| Grades
By Ava Black The grading system at Hogwarts is very different than any muggle school. You do not receive an A, B, C, D or F here. Instead it is made up of three passing grades and three failing grades. The three passing grades are Outstanding (O) which is the highest, Exceeds Expectations (E) and Acceptable (A). You need one of these three passing grades to move onto any acceptable job. The three failing grades are Poor (P), Dreadful (D) and Troll (T). You really dont want to get any of these grades. |
| Dear Alba,
My best friend and I have been friends for a few years, and we have a lot in common... We always have fun together, and always help each other out when we are in trouble... The only problem is that she is very hyper active, and goes crazy. Also, when she is extremely perky she is insulted very easily. She becomes angry extremely easily too... She wont tell me why, she'll just walk. It really upsets me because I want to know what I'm doing wrong, but she wont talk to me. She snaps out of it very quickly, but then it's like nothing happened, and I can't do anything to fix any future fights we have... Signed, Missy Dear Missy, Although I am by no means a psychologist or pretend to be one, have you ever thought that maybe your friend has a disorder such as A.D.H.D.? I only suggest this because my son suffers from this problem & when I read what you have written about your friend, it sounds like I'm reading his story instead of your friend's story! If this is the case, your friend definitely can't help acting the way she acts. The only thing that you can do is continue to be her friend, understand that this is out of her control, & have patience with her when she's having one of her "episodes". If this isn't the case, try talking to her when she's calm & explaining to her how what she does confuses you & you wonder if there is anything you can do differently when you're together to keep from hurting her feelings. More than likely, approaching the subject when she's having a "good day" will net you some results. Another suggestion to try is talking with her parents & asking their advice. I'm sure if she's this way with you, she's like this other times, too. They may have some suggestions for you to try or might be able to sit down with both of you & discuss the problems this behavior is creating. Either way, being honest with her about how what she does makes you feel is the best solution. Sure, she may get upset for a little while, but it's better to be honest & try to find a solution than to act like it's ok & eventually get sick of her & end your friendship over it! In the end, you'll both feel better! Good luck! Signed, Alba |
