This month Penshire would like to recognize Guin Talaven as the student of the month. Guin is one of our craziest members! She is so hyper and frankly loads of fun to be around. She fills the common room with her enthusiasm and cheers making us all have a great time. It just wouldn�t be the same with out her!! Penvivor!

Penvivor is a new idea that was well thought out by the staff of the house of Penshire. There are six contestants that will each battle it out in five rigorous contests that will battle their minds, ability, and will power. As the first contest passes, two contestants will be eliminated, and asked to leave the 'island' forever! Yes folks, forever! The six contestants are as follows: Danny Lupin, Gabriella Krum, Bryony Casten, Araceli Mendoza, Lucia Valentine, Ava Black, and Shalamar Magoo. Find out how each of these will do in the next issue of the Gazette, and also see which two participants were eliminated from the island!

Penshire has tipped the cups in their favor this time!! As I have promised previously we are leading the way. This hard work is truly a whole house effort. The cranes are doing lessons, the sorcerer�s stone challenge and any contest they can find. So will Penshire take home the cup at the end of term, well it is really too soon to say. But I will tell you that is the whole house�s goal and they are pressing towards the mark!! Now onto other news, Penshire won their first Quidditch match!! What an exciting after party that was! Go Cranes!!
Penshire Prattle

During the month of October, Penshire has received 11 new students! That may also be a new record for the house as well! Most of them had already went ahead and introduced themselves, and began to post around in the house. After our latest Posting War, which brought the house over 6,000 posts in just ONE week! It was just amazingly awesome. Our top poster in the house, who has kept her place for months, is of course Deirdre Torrey with over 25,000 posts. Not that far behind her is our Head Girl with 20,000 posts. In third is Bryony Casten with 19,000 posts. And in fourth is myself, Samuel Craft, with 16,000 posts. As you can see everyone in the house is working hard, especially in the posts department, and there seems to be some little battles going between Ava and Bryony in regards to being in second place.
Also, the house has been working extremely hard to keep our status of first place in house points. And boy have we been keeping that up! The house turns in tons and tons of articles to the Owl Gazette and our house magazine, the Wizard's Digest. Not to mention almost every student in Penshire is signed-up for five classes, which also helps a lot in points. There is no doubt in my mind that Penshire will win the House Cup this year!
Oh, and as a little reminder, the Penshire Co-Ops just went through some major revamping, so why not go ahead and see what changed? And also to come will be some brand new shops!

Due to the fact that nothing has really changed in the terms of gossip in our beloved Gryffindor CR, yours truly and the other House Reporter, who takes this topic every issue, have decided to cancel an article on the topic. Of course, this doesn't mean that we have died or such, it just means that there have been no new gossips about relationships, rumors of such that have been happening in the CR. We promise however that as soon as there are any changes, it will start up again. Until next time!
Monthly Update: Post Numbers!

Soooo� for the monthly update! This month, Gryffindor has, despite the struggles of muggle homework and magic homework, have pulled through with raising our post numbers to higher and higher! First off, our new Prefect Assistant is certainly determined to keep her post as first on our top ten, as she is only have a thousand posts from making 20k! Next follows our favorite Postaholics, Linda Danes, who is now known to be seen around down at the BB conversing with the schoolmates. She stands second with over 16k, and at this rate, she looks like she will catch up to Leah Black anytime soon. Our two best friends still follow, each with over 12k as they seem to like being at an equal number. Fifth comes our other Prefect Assistant, Adrianna La Cerva, who holds 9k. The next three following are the three cousins, Megan Miller with over 7,5k, Kalie Black with 7k and yours truly reaching quickly to 7k as well. Megs, who had reached 6k right before October came, had also reached 7000 posts roughly a week later! Our dear Head of House stands firm with 6.5k and last but not least comes Amber Potter, with over 4,7k. Until next time, we're still posting and still rising!

Well, lookey here! New students, new games, new chitchats, new RP's, new everything!...except the fact that we're STILL cool. The Slytherin CR has been its busiest in the past month, I do believe, with the newbies posting as much as possible. Each one has at least one thousand posts of their own so far, for just being here a few weeks! Congrats on that accomplishment, girls. Nicknames seem to be growing in popularity as well, and nearly everyone has one. The few who do not, how are they getting out of it? I say, Kiley, Lor! Find out who does NOT yet have a nickname, and deem them "nameless̈
Most happenings in the CR are, as always, secret. You will never hear of them, see them, or know that they exist beyond the fact that we have secrets. So why report anything, you ask? Well, we simply have to make it LOOK like there are innocent things we do!

I don't know about everyone else but I have been watching the hour glass everyday and Hufflepuff is catching up. I watched us go from last to second and it was quite amazing. We are almost to the top and we all know we can do it. What lead us out of our place in last or even 3rd or 4th. Team work! As a house we pride ourselves for working together. With some fresh meet and some people who have been here a while we can get this done and win the Cup.

This past month has been and extremely busy one for the Hufflepuff house. We�ve got several different contests going on right now including candy decorating, face painting,, and an OG challenge. All of which we are expecting to see good results from. We�ve also been hard at work with earning points and working on our IHC entry. Several new Huff�s have been welcomed into the house including Marcus Dragonhope, Felicitae Lestrange, Jenni Wang, Kate Way, Maya Parker, Siobhan Deloreme, and Vincent Valentine. And we�ve had a change in our editorial staff of the TT, it�s now being headed up by Katlin Sawyer, Ronald Weasley, and Jenii Chang. We�ve already started work on the new issue with the new staff and are looking forward to the finished paper. Finally, we are looking forward to our upcoming post-a-thon that we will be held from Nov. 4th-12th and are all getting super excited for our upcoming match against Slytherin this month. Confusing, is it not?

"You might belong to Hufflepuff where they are just and loyal. Thos patient Hufflepuffs are true and unafraid to toil". I read this one day, and glance at it everyday while entering the common room. Usually I don't think much of it, but one day it hit me. It's supposed to be what it means to be a Hufflepuff. I wasn't sure it was the best example, simply the only one we had, of what a true Hufflepuff was. I was reading posts, mainly in the introduction thread, and realized we weren't all the same. Really, we were quite different. We came from different backgrounds, grew up differently, and yet, somehow we were all the same. There had to be something about our personalities that made us all become Hufflepuffs. I wondered what we all had in common. To me, it seemed we weren't really alike. After about ten minutes I finally figured it out. When someone needed help we all jumped in to answer there questions. When our prefects were busy we all jumped in to do little jobs around the common room. Lastly, when a new student came, we all welcomed him or her heartily into our family. On that day, I discovered Hufflepuffs were kind and helpful, and that's what made us similar.

When Ron had returned from doing some clothes shopping, upon opening the front door, he dropped everything he was carrying on the ground and stared, mouth agape at what he saw. Everything in his mansion was pink..and everything was ten times brighter then what the original colors were. All the furniture was pink, his bed was pink, his room walls were pink, all his walls were pink, his bathroom toilet is pink, his sinks are pink, his bathtub is pink. Everything had been turned pink. He then quickly ripped up all the wallpaper over the walls and tried to replace everything before anyone came to visit him. Ron has a suspicion as to who had done this, but he wasn�t gonna point the finger at anyone until he found some exact evidence to prove who actually did it. Ron now is asking anyone in the house of Hufflepuff, if they saw who did it, bring them to him for proper punishment. Oh, and he�s offering a 100 galleon reward to whoever turns in the culprits first.
Just kidding..actually--no he�s not.

A representative was chose for Hufflepuff after a very close poll. Jenii Chang was right behind Joey the whole time and tied with him for most of the race. I final vote sent Joey into the lead and he won! Elizabeth had been right behind them with 5 votes, Jenii with 6, and Joey with a winning 7. He made a nice speech afterwards and we are glad to have him as our representative. All I can say is congratulations Joey and that we know he is the best for the job.

I know other houses have their �house pride� and reasons for being sorted into their specific houses, but to be a Slytherin means something that no other house could mistaken have; I will explain. First, dark humor is must, finding things funny in the darkest places, is a must. Secondly, the ability to be sarcastic with a sense of irony is another common trait. Thirdly, knowing when a Slytherin housemates teasing you about �leggings�, pop rocks, or who is �hotter� in the Muggle movieland world, it is all in good fun.
Being a Slytherin means that you adore your Head of House come what may. Oh sure, you all love your HOH, but it is different in Slytherin; we even have a thread about why we love Professor Snape and it is one of the more popular threads with a gazillion reasons among them the fact he is tall, dark, and sarcastic. The list goes on and let me tell you, it is just not a �girl thing� the males of Slytherin have their reasons.
Lastly, we have had a rough start this term, but we Slytherins are not giving up and will fight to the end for our points. We take our magical education seriously and you won�t find us cramming at the last minute to try and make up where we lack, we, like last year, will work at it all term. We have some mighty determined members who will not easily give up the ghost. So, you can laugh and say, �look! They are in last place!� But just remember, those who poke a sleeping serpent can easily get bitten.
