| Are You Truly a Snape Lover?
By Kiley Blaire and Lorena Quietglass (With Help from Seraphina Rosehill) It has come to our attention that there are so-called "Snape Lovers" around Hogwarts and we are disgusted at the people who feel the need to say that their love is for him and no other - be wary of people like this, they do not truly lover our wonderful Potions Master. You refer to him as your future husband 7. He calls you by your first name!8. You dedicate a pumpkin to him! 9. You're Teachers Pet in DADA 10. You threaten people who dance with him with horrible revenge Stay tuned next week for this EXACT same list, with a different title: How to Tell You are Seraphina Rosehill. Thank you. |

Friday the 13th is an unlucky day in much of Western Europe, North America, and Australia. Many people avoid travel and avoid signing contracts on Friday the 13th. Floors in tall buildings often skip from 12 to 14. And while the superstition is believed to be fading, it nonetheless has deep roots in both Christian and pagan culture. Many Christians have long believed that Friday was unlucky because it was the day of the week when Jesus was crucified. The number 13 was believed to bring bad luck because there were 13 people at The Last Supper. Since there were 12 tribes of Israel, that number was considered lucky. Thirteen was also a sinister number in Norse mythology. Loki, one of the most evil of the Norse gods, went uninvited to a party for 12 at Valhalla, a banquet hall of the gods. As a result, he caused the death of Balder, the god of light, joy, and reconciliation. Loki tricked Balder's blind brother, Hod, into throwing a sprig of mistletoe at Balder's chest. Since mistletoe was the only thing on Earth fatal to Balder, the beloved god fell dead. |

| Friday the 13th
By Ava Black After polling six random people I have found out that the majority of people don't fear Friday the 13th. This really amazed me even though I am one of those people that don't believe. One person even claimed it was a lucky day for them! You would think with the media saying that it is a scary day, and all the movies out about the date that more people would give in to this fear. But that was not the case. I know that on Friday the 13th I approached the day like any other. I ate my normal breakfast of oatmeal and only found one fly in it. Then I went to potions class and that went well, my potion bubbled over but Professor Snape didn't give me a detention. Then I managed to get back to the Common Room after about 20 minutes of trying to figure out what the staircases were doing, and I only missed the first half of the meeting I had planned. At dinner I found one large hair in my stew but it tasted wonderful. So see the day went wonderful. I don't see why people believe in that silly Friday the 13th superstition! |

| Slippery Slytherin Happenings
Victoria Malfoy ~ There are like fifty big stairs outside are school and someone left a ball on the top one and I tripped, and fell down all 49...yes I counted them, stairs. I fell flat on my face and broke my nose. Jess Dark Wing ~ I had an incident in COMC when we went to visit the lake, a merperson grabbed my wrist when I was bending over the lake and pulled me in. I then had to DEMAND a note from prof. lockhart (I refuse to capitalize his name) and then on my way to DADA I got water bombed and chased by Peeves about 6 times before Mr. Philips came and yelled at him, By that time I was fairly well angry (not to mention soaking wet) and then I went to DADA handed professor Snape the note and sat at the back of the room and spent the entire lesson glaring at my quill while people were somewhat avoiding me as though I'd murder them if they looked so much as cross eyed at me. Wednesday Addams ~ Um...I got one. This my best friend at school and I sort of liked the same guy. Oh we never talked to him or anything, just thought he was cute. She was getting closer to speaking to him and it seemed he was starting to take a shine to her. One day, we were in the hall and saw him and we both were giggling and then he did something that we could not believe!! Turned us off instantly and is so ewing gooey! We saw him....pick his nose! But that wasn't the worst! He proceeded to then stick his finger in his mouth.....and.....EAT HIS BOGER! |
| Future of the Art Club
By Fiona Chauvet I was able to sit down with Professor Opal recently and ask her a few questions about the Art Club. Being a current member myself, I wanted to know a little about the clubs past and what she has in store for the future of the club. Heres what she had to say. Q: How did the club start off? A: Well, the Art Club has always been here at Hogwarts. As far back as I can remember theres been an Art Club at least. I just took over running the club at the beginning of the summer of 05. Q: Why did you want to run the Art Club? A: I love art-first and foremost. I enjoy seeing students work and being able to offer suggestions when they ask. I also loved sending things into the Art Club when I was a student, but I thought the club could be a bit more. So when I got the chance to run it, I wanted to make sure it was the best it could be. Q: Did you have a lot of work cut-out for you? A: No, not really. I knew what I wanted to do with the club. I had an idea of how I wanted to run it. I made the site and the forum and that was about it. Q: Where many people interested in joining in the beginning? A: There were a lot of people who joined in the beginning, surprisingly. And I was lucky to have a lot of students who would send in work regularly. I also had people who continued to participate in the monthly contests, so that was good. Q: What changes happened within the year of the clubs start? A: Well, I realized the system I had worked out to receive everyones art and post it on the site, wasnt working out at all. It was too much work for me, so I asked the members for some suggestions. I got great feedback and with their help I made the new system entirely on the forum. Q: What does the future look like for the Art Club? A: Ive wanted to add more contest to the club for awhile now. I just havent got the time to get to it. So I hope in the future there will be a bigger selection of contest for the members to participate in. Q: Anything else youd like to let the readers know? A: Yes, anyone can join the Art Club. Some people get the impression you need to be an artist, or have amazing talent to be in the club, but thats not it at all. Its great having people of all levels of skill join, because we offer help on improving on the forum. I also allow a huge range of art in the club. If you draw, paint, sculpt, photograph, doll, whatever, wed love to have you in the club. Theres a little bit on the club. Hopefully this has given you some interest in joining the club if you already havent. |
