Christian Art

In January 2002, IMCF commissioned the Cree artist Ovide Bighetty to create a series of paintings portraying the Easter Story. Through seventeen scenes, Kisemanito Pakitinasuwin (The Creator's Sacrifice) presents the events in Christ's life from the Last Supper through his resurrection. Each painting is done in a style that Ovide Bighetty describes as 'Woodland Cree'. Through the use of aboriginal imagery and symbols, these paintings present the truth of the sacrifice of Christ the Creator. Some previews of the paintings are presented below.
