Mellie Ida Hill was born September 20th, 1907 in Parker county, Texas unto the parents of Ida Alice Hill and William Monroe Hill. Her father served in
the Civil war with Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest from december, 1863
until the horseman surrendered in 1865 in Alabama. Leaving this world, it
could very well be safe to say, that Mellie was the last living daughter of a
Civil war veteran.
Mike A. Leathers is the grand nephew of Mellie, and the grandson of Sophia E.
Leathers, sister of Mellie and great grandson of William Monroe Hill of Parker
county, Texas. Mellie was very instrumental in our family history. Her input as
a daughter of a confederate soldier cannot be surpassed in history today. Great
appreciation is given unto Mellie Ida Williamson for her input of Lost Legacy
of the Outlaw Frank James, an unpublished copyright work. By (JFL)
