The main question that most people ask is why to join the Mi Sheberach group. Why not simply post a message to the group and leave? Why not simply ask that your message be posted to the group, and let the subscribers do the davening?
In order to understand the answer to this question, and how Mi Sheberach works, the participants have to understand the rationale behind it.
Mi Sheberach can be more effective than other requests for Tehillim because of the special zchut (merit) you gain from joining.
Mi Sheberach subscribers do indeed ask others to say Tehillim, but we also read about others in need and say Tehillim for them. We show that we are serious about G-d's intervention, and not just asking for a favor. We show that we are willing to make an extra effort on behalf of the sick person among all of Israel.
On the other hand, a message that is simply posted anonymously to the group, asking others to do the davening for you without joining the group, removes this zchut. In effect, it is an attempt to lower the status of the group address to a simple addition to a chain letter.
Your prayers and requests for Hashem to listen deserve more than that.
