Diary for September

September 1-8, 2002
    Drove to Lincoln on several of these days to check out the progress of the house.   That progress can be seen on the picture page
from day to day.

September 9, 2002
    Went to see Jim Lonergan at Commercial Federal to confirm the loan, but since we are not 100% sure of the closing date we decided to wait a few days to see the progress. The loan will only be able to be locked in for 60 days which would put us at November 8, 2002 for a closing date. Without knowing any complications in the house building process we thought it best to wait.

September 11, 2002
    Received a call at work from the electrician wanting to know if I thought I would need a bigger circuit breaker box. I had no clue so I called Candi to confirm that if and when we went to finish the basement that we had enough room to handle it. She checked with Cherry Hill and returned a call confirming that we would be okay. We discussed other items that were not completed or that I needed assistance on. She said the windows in front have now been moved.

September 12, 2002
     Went to the house to check it out. We are moving along faster now, as the windows have been installed, the shingles are sitting on top of the house and will be put on starting tomorrow, the doors are in the garage (except the front door), the electrician has set up to get started. WOW!!!! Called Candi about nicks on door, and she told me about the upgrade from 100 amp to 150 amp electric box. I called Jean while at the house to tell her of the great progress, and that the excitment is really starting to happen now.

September 13, 2002
     Jean called about 4:30 pm to say that she had an offer on the townhouse and she would call again after work. At 5:45 pm she called to say that the offer was a real low offer and there was no way that she could accept that offer. About 6:30 pm she called to say that she had made a sale. They accepted the counter offer and her townhouse was sold. Man, once it starts it really gets to going.

September 17, 2002
      The house is now getting the electrical, the plumbing, the furnace, and the roof is almost shingled. Why I went here on this day I don't have a clue cause it is Scott's birthday. I called him and woke him (he works third shift) and told him we would do something soon.

September 21, 2002
      Jean has arrived in Lincoln and she got her first view of the house. She likes it and already she has some great ideas for the rooms in the home. As we walked through the house we realized that the siding was white not grey, so we called Candy to let her know. She came to the house to meet Jean, bring the shutter colors, and to let us know that the siding would be changed.

September 22, 2002
      Jean and Roger drove around Lincoln to get Jean more acquainted with the city.

September 23, 2002
     Shopping day begins at Carpetland for an hour to get:
       carpeting
       vinyl flooring for the kitchen, two baths, and entry way,
       countertops for the kitchen and the two baths.
Then off to pick the light fixtures and ceiling fans at Home Depot. This took a little longer but soon we were done with that. After a lunch we went to Shaefers to get the stove, the microwave/hood over the stove, the dishwasher, and the refrigerator. My gosh everything has been light colors till now. Appliances are black. More expenses and Roger the accountant started to panic.

September 25, 2002
     Went to Lincoln to go to Penny's, Sears, and Target to check out curtains and rods. Jean has some pretty definite ideas about curtains and what she wants. This will go fast too if Jean shops like she did for the other parts.

September 27, 2002
     The drywall is now going up. It is 99% finished with the drywall portion but they have not started on the taping and mudding yet. The siding has been replaced with the correct siding now. The bricks are in the yard and the mortor cement is in the garage so the next few days should be fun and interesting.

September 28, 2002
    Went to check up on the house one more time before Jean heads back to Montana. We think we have everything figured out now, but we know that other things will pop up before closing (see Oct 3).
