GENESIS 1:9-10
9: Then God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so.
10: And called the dry land Earth, and the gathering of the waters He called Seas.
And God saw that it was good.
Each and every act shows order being brought out of disorder and form out of and chaos and formlessness. As we established earlier, each step of creation took infinate wisdom, beyond human comprehension. God's power and wisdom are clearly seen throughout creation. Let's take a look at the following verses which speak of the Earth and the waters. When God refers to something as "good", it means it has His blessing.

Job 26:7, "He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing."
"the north over empty space" seems to represent God's dwelling place in rather than a specific geological location. "hangs the earth on nothing" means that the earth is suspended in space.

Psalm 24:1-2, "The earth is the LORD's, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. 2:For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters."
King David continues to recognize the Creator and Sovereign God's continued control over the earth and waters and is "those who dwell therein."

Psalm 95:5, "The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land."

Jeremiah 5:22, "Do you not fear Me?" says the LORD. "Will you not tremble at My presence, Who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea. By a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, Yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it."
God was making a bold statement in reminding who is in control of even the seas, which was the realm of some false gods.

2 Peter 3:5, "For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth  standing out of water and in the water,"
The NLT states it this way: "They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of His comand, and He brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water."
Scoffers would try to overlook ("willfully forget") the events of Creation and the Flood, etc.

Psalm 33:7, "He gathers the waters of the sea together as in a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses.
