ABC's new reality show "Making the Band" takes the cameras inside the lives of five young guys putting together a band. The filming is from actual events and is accompanied by quick clips and interviews of each of the band members expressing their emotions and opinions about the events in the show. The show takes place in Orlando, Florida and made its premiere on March 27, 2000. "Making the Band" is executive produced by Ken Mok at MTV Productions, Mary-Ellis Bunim and Jonathan Murray at Bunim/Murray Productions. Clay Newbill is supervising producer with Kathy Wetherell serving as line producer. C.B. Harding is the series' lead director. The auditions took place in eight different cities : Honolulu, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Nashville, Chicago, New York and Orlando. The judges were MTV VJs, radio DJs, talent agents, actors, actresses, dancers and the in-house core of judges from Transcontinental Records. On the 1 800 young guys, only a few of them could sing and those guys were chosen to make the 25.
