Racism and attitudes toward interracial relationships are important themes in William Shakespeare’s play Othello. In this Webquest, you will analyze a performance and passages from Othello, listen to an essay about an interracial couple who married in the 1960’s and read and discuss two articles about issues faced by contemporary interracial couples.

        After analyzing each of these sources, you will write an essay which explores evolving attitudes toward interracial couples. Your essay should reference the sources, and demonstrate that you’ve consider how attitudes have evolved, or not evolved over time. Compare and contrast ideas from different sources, and develop conclusions based on what you’ve learned both from the resources provided and from your on-line discussion with your classmates.
