DIVO is Dunedin’s community-based needle exchange programme offering sterile injecting equipment, information, education, safe sex supplies, doctor’s clinic and counselling. THE AIDS HOTLINE offers a 24 hour, toll-free and friendly information service with a comprehensive listing of medical and support services, as well as advice on HIV/AIDS related issues. Phone: 0800-802-437 any time.

NZAF South - Te Toka provides information, support and counselling for those living with HIV/AIDS and their families and friends. SEXUAL HEALTH CLINIC provides free treatment & diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases, as well as education and information. HIV testing/counselling/support, condoms and absolute confidentiality assured.  Located in the Dunedin Hospital (Ground floor Frederick Street enterance)  Phone: 470-9780.

OTAGO POSITIVE SUPPORT NETWORK (OPSN) provides information, practical care, support and companionship for people living with HIV/AIDS, their partners, families and friends. For more information phone 021-151-3307.

FAMILY PLANNING ASSOCIATION (FPA) provides sexual and reproductive health and well-being, including STI tests & treatment, PMS & menopause advice, breast checks, cervical smears and condom prescriptions. 2nd floor, 95 Hanover St, Dunedin. POLICE DIVERSITY  LIAISON OFFICERS, specially trained police officers now available to deal with any GLBTI/queer  issues. Dunedin - Matt Scholes, phone 471-4800.  

ASCENT (NZ affiliated) is a Catholic-based gay and lesbian support group for those seeking to foster their spirituality. The Dunedin group is an ecumenical one with monthly religious services or social events. Write to PO Box 5328, Dunedin, or leave a message with Citizens Advice.

UNIQ OTAGO is an organisation run by and for queer tertiary students in Dunedin.  UniQ offers social events, an email network, a social group (fruit salad)  For more information  email [email protected]

RAINBOW GREENS is a national network of Green Party members who are not predominantly heterosexual; have a gender identity that is different from their birth sex; are questioning their gender or sexuality; or are experiencing same sex love or attraction. TRANS SUPPORT - there are no formal support systems for trans people in the Otago area.  A small number of guys who are trans or herm get together socially, reasonably regularly, and welcome contact from others who are trans, herm, gender queer, trans butch or questioning gender in their own lives and who would like to meet up or talk by phone.  They can be contacted through the OGT [email protected] or 0274-793-113 or AGENDER NZ (0800 AGENDER).
