| In 1872, when Syracuse University first opened its doors to women, a group of friends decided to join together in a sisterhood. Their aims were to seek the highest ideals of womanhood, to develop a spirit of service, helpfulness, and cooperation, and to further their intellectual growth. These women were the original founders of Alpha Phi. At Ohio State University, the women of Rho Chapter maintain the 130-year heritage of Alpha Phi. The objectives of Alpha Phi members remain as the promotion of growth in character, unity of feelings, and social communion of our members. |
