Navajo & Jamez

Jamez was the first site I ever camped in at Onteora.  In the summer of 1967, our troop only went to camp for a week because we did not have adult leadership for a second week.  We moved to Navajo in 1968 and 1969.  1969 was the year of the floods and Navajo as well as many other campsites and trails more closely resembled streams and rivers. Navajo is a very large site.  I believe it was 1969 when both Navajo I and Navajo II existed to accommodate an additional troop.  Navajo II was located closer to the trading post, and it shared the latrine with Navajo I.   Troop 182 from Baldwin camped here in the second period of 2001.

Navajo Tents

Navajo Leanto

Some of the wall tents at Navajo.  All of the tents and platforms are fairly new.  Sturdy Coleman Army type canvas cots have replaced the old wire and spring cots.

This is the only remaining Navajo lean-to.  The floor has missing boards and their is a big hole in the roof.  Unfortunately it may be beyond repair.

Jamez Site

Jamez is a small site up the road from Keuka.  Troop 771 was expected to arrive on Sunday afternoon. .
