Fun Fun Fun
Work projects are underway this week. Volunteers are spreading 30 tons of gravel around the orphanage. Social workers from the capital recommended last week that there was too much mud around the orphanage and there is adust problem here in the summer. So with the help of one hundred volunteers we had the man power to getthe job done. Of course it was an excellent opportunity for orphans to get a free ride and join in the fun. Games Volunteers have designed dozens of activities this week. We are conducting music labs to teach children drumming. Marta is having fun in the harmonica class, and others are having a blast participating in parachute games.

Volunteers from Virginia, North Carolina, and Penn State Sorry for the late newsletter. We are nearly overwhelmed with 100 volunteers here this week from North Carolina, University of Virginia, Penn State and assorted others. Marta is busy keeping food and supplies in stock. We have a number of work projects going on. A sewer cistern is being dug. We are sending twenty teaching teams into the local primary schools and Hatian villages. They are teaching English and are already returning with stories of surprise and delight. Some of the students are here with nursing backgrounds and are treating minor infections. We are delivering clothes, food, and medicine to Hatian villages.
Tooltime Marta Marta is beginning to sound like her father. Where are my tools she is constantly saying. It is her mantra for the week. With one hundred volunteers we are under a crush of activities to keep ahead. Hall of Heroes Click the photo button at the bottom to see all the orphans we presently serve at El Buen Samaritano. Each child is identified by name with a short note about his special talent or circumstance. |
