I monitored religious minorities in the region of southeast Turkey and northern Iraq. I served about 27 Christian villages in the region.My job was to travel to villages, jails, and government institutions and investigate and report on violations of human rights as defined by the United Nations Charter on Human Rights. I also conducted worship services and various religious functions to the various families and tribes. This was done in a multi-lingual environment involving Turkish, German, and English, Arabic, and Aramaic.

Had primary responsibility for the church of Gunduk Shukro (300 members).

 

Interim Minister: 1996-1999

Portland Oregon, organized and built a church for a group of refugee families from Bagdad and Bethlehem. About 50 families were gathered and eventually a minister from Mosul was brought to the States to serve this Arabic and Aramaic speaking church. (150 members)

Inrterim Minister, 1993, Great Neck, New York, organized 150 families and established a worshiping community, guided the council to bring in a permanent minister.

Missionary/Refugee Relief Coordinator 1990-1996

World Council of Churches Midyat, Turkey/ Zaho Iraq

Organized the feeding and medicating of 160,000 Kurdish refugees. After the first 18 months I organized various educational and medical projects — setting up schools, recruiting teachers, and building small factories.
