Courage occasionally enters my system,
And I become capable of wonderful feats:
I can write a marvelous poem for you;
Perhaps my voice is more ethereal too;
My sensual stimulation is at its peak,
And I am thrilled by exciting my senses;
My vocabulary overflows with words;
I moderate my appetite and do what is needed;
My face clears and my smile is sunshine;
Sometimes I get so caught up in the moment
That I chance saying those three wonderful words,
But then my courage falters.
The spectacular experience is in my mind,
But I know I cannot speak when you are not here.
Though the courage is there, our moment is not.
I will wait for the moment, resigning myself
To the duties of an everyday life,
And I will have courage for you then.
As the afternoon sun rolls westward, I come.
I fill the sky, thousands of feet high,
And I bring darkness to the evening.
I flash like lightning.
I am the crack of thunder.
The howling winds are my doing.
Make haste, prepare for my whirlwinds.
They bring the untold destruction of fives.
I bring cold air and ice and rain.
I topple those who are too weak to stand,
And I make stronger those who can persevere.
When dawn eases its way over the horizon,
Give thanks that I have made you stronger,
And that my rains will make your fields prosper.
When dreams are lost in the course of life,
All that is left is their shadow,
A shadow that all of us hold near and dear,
A shadow we call Hope.
In dreams there's none that can hold you down;
For you are the one who is living.
You are the one who is doing the dreaming
And the one who will finally succeed.
But when the dreams themselves are lost
To a world stuffed with reality,
Then all that remains is the shadow called Hope,
And it is there that dreams will come true.
As long as there is hope of a dream,
As long as you don't give up,
Then that dream is never lost
And you can be who you want to be.
You don't have to live within reality.
You don't have to struggle with life;
For Hope will lead you on to your dreams,
Where true happiness will be found.
Oh, how fragile we are in this world we have created!
We suffer undeserved punishments and disasters,
Only to be held down by those trying to lift us up.
Break free! Live for yourself and realize your dreams!
We are all individuals, and no one can take that away.
We live to serve only ourselves and those we love,
Never to be manipulated by society or those we do not know.
Have faith in yourself, for who you have become!
Know you have lived life as best you can!
Try! You must always try for the things you want,
And you must always get the things you need, good or bad.
Do not accept things as they are if they hurt you.
Pursue change! Alter your surroundings and your life!
Think like a person, not like a group, and you will be free.
Never accept reality, for it can always be changed.
Live life and enjoy it, for you cannot fail, unless in your own eyes.
Give me an excuse and Ill believe it;
Just look me in the eye when you say it.
I dont care for what is true or false;
Just let me know you were thinking of me.
Yes, its really that simple:
Just let me know you were thinking of me.
You cause me too much pain for me to keep trying to be your friend.
You had me once; though you still cant see, you lost what you never knew you had.
I would give you the world, but would that be enough to fill your desires?
Or are you asking the impossible, just so you can look better in your eyes?
Maybe you never liked me, but I will never understand your kindness.
Maybe you loved me, but love does not bring such pain as I received.
I dont want to remember you, as I once thought I would always do.
While some memories are good, most leave me with a bad taste in my heart.
Move on with your life, and I will try to make the best of mine.
Leave me, or Ill leave you. I dont want to hear from you again.
The days of old have given me the time to look back
At what I have accomplished and all that I have done.
In early years I learned a lot, striving for success,
And trying to impress my friends and make my father proud.
A teacher that I knew when I was only ten years old
Inspired me to learn the math, and fall in love with it.
My language skills improved at twelve, when I studied deutsch,
And all throughout my German career, I passed all expectations.
Writing poems for personal joy became my major passion,
And later in life I showed them to those I trusted most.
I learned what beauty was, from looking at the world around,
In all its brilliant gilded glory, given it by God.
The simple pleasures of my life made my smiles wide,
And the larger joys, success and love, made me feel complete.
Despite everything Ive done in life, despite all that I have learned,
I still feel a hole inside, one that I cant fill.
And so I look to the future to see what I can do,
And maybe someday Ill be as great as Ive always hoped to be.
Tell me when I hurt you.
Let me know when you fear.
Open your heart to me,
And let me hold you near.
Let me dry the falling tears
On your dampened cheeks,
And let me warm your body
To calm you with my heat.
Whenever you are hurting,
Remember I am here,
Trying hard to love you
And eliminating fear.
Nowadays he sits in silence in his chair.
I remember when he used to smile more often.
I remember when we used to listen to him
Tell stories around the fire,
While we were eating our roasted marshmallows.
I can still see the holidays at their house,
When the pride and joy in his eyes was most apparent
As we were opening the gifts they got us.
He is a wonderful and loving man.
He created an atmosphere of love
For all his children and grandchildren,
And even though he would get mad sometimes,
We all knew he was still the greatest.
Now I can see the loss in his eyes,
Though I can tell he tries not to show it.
He wants to stay strong for us.
Sometimes he's in the hospital;
In fact, that's where he spends most of his time.
To see him lying there, relying on others for life,
Stirs something buried inside me.
I thought it was fear of the unknown,
But now I know it's the pain of losing
Someone I idolize, someone I love.
When family gathers around him he's happy,
But not as happy as I once remember.
He was brave; he still is brave.
Why does he have to go?
It's not fair to me; I don't deserve this.
I'm worried about how my dad will feel.
But it must be his time, and he knows it.
For the first time in my life
I am confronted with something completely new
And frightening: Losing someone I love.
Life does go on though,
And I will live to be the best I can;
For when he's looking down on me from Heaven,
I want to make sure he's smiling.
By the time I'm as old as he is,
He'll be overflowing with pride.
When it's my turn, I'll get to see his twinkling eyes.
Now is the time to be strong, to look ahead.
I have to keep my head up and face the world,
And know that my grandpa will never truly be gone.
He'll still live on
Inside me.
Mountains have feelings too.
They may sit there all day long,
But they still hear what you say:
Are they beautiful or just in the way?
The floor has feelings too.
It gives you its support day in and day out,
But do you ever thank it? No.
The wind has feelings too.
It may try to push you down,
But it knows no other way.
If you'd take some time to listen,
You might hear what it has to say.
It cares how you see it,
And it can feel bad just like you.
Mountains have feelings too.
Though they never say a word,
They still can hear what you say
And see what you do.
Mountains have feelings too,
And so do I.
Forget me while I fly away for a moment
To enjoy the freedom of an open sky,
A soaring shadow silhouetted against the sun.
Let me live for myself while I glide through the clouds,
Forgetting all my troubles and fears,
Speeding away into the limitless afternoon,
Never to come down again.
Let me learn that in my haste
I may have forgotten that the simple joys
Are the ones that make a difference,
And that, while the ecstasy of flight among the clouds
Has its momentary pleasure,
True happiness only comes from the heart.
So when I return, please take me back,
Show me the warm comfort everyone needs,
And give me the simple things that make life complete.
The yesteryears are flown away,
Sending yet another day.
What was lost will come again.
What will be we'll see too soon.
The morn has wakened, shining through,
Bright and wet with morning dew.
Rising sphere of glowing light,
Why'd you leave for dark of night?
Warming slow, light shines in,
Stirring movement from within.
Cracking bones filled with aches,
Old man silently awakes
To whistling birds and coffee pots
And rooster's call and snorting ox.
Cold wood floor beneath his feet,
With slippers off he goes to eat.
Throughout the day he does his work,
But one thought in his mind does lurk:
What will come tomorrow's day?
What will leave and what will stay?
Will the sun still rise up high,
Or will it stay forever night?
Questioning without a peep,
He prays and lies his head to sleep.
He hopes the morn brings sunrise gold,
And brings back joyous days of old.
We float on the sea of time in our ship of life.
Sometimes it seems as though the storms will tear our sails
And break our masts, flooding our tiny craft.
Other times clear skies and a strong wind prevail,
And it seems like there will be smooth sailing forever.
Things can change in an instant, often unexpectedly.
Clear skies can become gray with thunder and rain,
And storms can pass, giving way to sunshine.
It is these moments in time that come when we least expect,
And sometimes, when we need them most.
If we hope for change, it will not come,
For change only comes through work and surprises.
So as we sail through the sea of time,
We must never forget that the good times can turn bad
And the bad times can turn good in but an instant.
Change comes when we least expect it.
Why scale the highest mountain
When you're only risking your life?
Why swim across the sea
When you risk drowning in its grasp?
Why explore the deepest jungle?
Why search the darkest cavern?
Why reach for the stars
When all you can lose is your pride?
