NiNi broke the long silence of the car ride.

"What are you reading, Kevin?"

"Nothing much, NiNi, just a chapter in my thermodynamics book."

"Why in the world would you read something like that for fun?"

"Well, it's not really for fun, NiNi, I'm just paging through it because it's been a long time since I took the classes, and I want to have it fresh in my mind, in case I need it."

"What in the world would you need that for on this trip?" "Well, since Erin and Mel stopped talking, we're running out of hot air, and I might actually have to fix the heater in this piece of crap van."

"Oh"

NiNi smiled.

I chuckled a little, then we both burst out laughing.

"God, those two freaks are at it again, Erin."

"Yeah, it reminds me of that time that these two guys at the sports club were hitting on me. They were, like, sooooo out beneath me, but they just wouldn't..."

Well, it looked like we were saved after all.

I put the book away, and pulled out the latest issue of Maxim. 1
