THE DEMATONES
The Dematones first emerged in 1961 in Sittingbourne Kent.
Initially playing under the name "The Nightriders" they changed their name and stage uniform in 1963 to look more professional and avoid confusion with another similarly named group.

The group comprised 3 guitarists, a drummer and a singer (after whom the group was named).
They were a popular rock group in the area, and performed at virtually all of the local venues both in the town, and surrounding villages.
Over the years the group line-up changed as members left and either new members joined, or in some cases, the remaining members changed their function within the group.

The group were popular thoughout the 60's undertaking Summer Season performances at holiday camps, which meant, typically, 3 nights one week, and 4 nights the next all through the summer.

They started playing before the flower power era, and played right through the Beatles years ..
If you were a fan, or have any memories of the group in those early 60's years, when it cost 3/6d to get in to a dance at the Carmel Hall or Bowater Lloyds clubhouse, then why not take a minute or two to sign the guestbook?.

I was the lead guitarist from the very first performance till I had to leave during one of the summer seasons, (in 1964, because nightschools and weekday performances don't mix).
