PHOTOS OF THE DEMATONES AND SOME OF THEIR LOCAL CONTEMPORARIES

During the early 60's there were a considerable number of similar groups, and I can not attempt to list them all. Many of these, if not all, had been on the same programme as the Dematones at some time in the first half of that decade. Some of the performances were at their own dances, with the other group playing during an interval (ideal for groups making debuts), some were doing half an evening each, and occasionally there were charity events, at which many performed, with the proceeds going to charity. In a way, this was like an early "Live Aid" or "Band Aid", except it was normally for specific charities. Some of these groups were already established when the Dematones formed, and the local groups that had the most influence on them were probably the Travellers and the Rebounds. Both of these groups regularly held their own dances, and I believe that the Dematones first "public dance" appearance was for half an hour during a Travellers dance. (Thankyou to the Travellers.. a bit late I guess).

These groups are displayed in no particular order, (apart from the Dematones being first). To make them a viewable size, it was not possible to get them all on one page, so their photos are continued on the next page.
