    Library service
Members of the ORES library can do their research at the resource centre. They can also take books home. Our library is rich in book variety selected to meet local needs. We have up to three thousand (3000) volumes covering pre-primary to university levels. This library comes in timely when more and more people are finding it difficult to purchase books in the curriculum.

    Intellectualism and Entertainment
Chess and scrabble are two games which demand much of the intellect. These games are far from popular within the Cameroonian public. ORES is seeking ways of promoting them through organised competitions. These games seem to attract people who are interested in books and those who are bestowed with rich intellectual power. The games have the power to link people of different intellectual backgrounds. It is our belief that by promoting them, healthy relationships can develop among players.

    Educational Counselling

    • At the centre, individuals who have problems of choosing careers or fields of studies can consult us. Some may want to know where to look for institutions that offer certain fields of studies.
    • Students having learning difficulties can also present their problems to us.

    Follow World Events
At the centre, individuals can follow world events through BBC and CNN news.

    In Perspective
ORES is working on the creation of a writers’ club to promote writing. It is intended to help members come up with publishable materials. Established authors may be solicited to give insights. Many an individual have the ambition to write but lack the skills to go about it. Another acute problem is the lack of an established publishing house in Cameroon. We shall be organising writing competitions still in the light of promoting writing.

    • ORES is looking forward to increase reading space and acquire more books (totalling twelve thousand (12000) volumes) for the centre.
    • A small amphitheatre could be attached to the centre for theatrical performances, seminars or workshops.

The ORES resource centre is a pilot centre which should be self sustaining. Other towns may benefit from the creation of such centres in the future.

    B) The rural book donation scheme

It is now a tradition for ORES to select a rural community each year to donate books. These books go to schools, individual and other institutions. These occasions are usually crowd-pulling as the books are given free of charge. We take advantage of this to sensitise the people on AIDS, Environmental protection and others.
