Kylie's Cord Comes Off!
My last day of winter vacation, I will miss Kylie so much when I go back to work tomorrow...
"Daddy, something fell off my tummy!"
1/5/2003
This morning after Kylie's morning feeding, we heard the doorbell ring. I had just gotten out of the shower, so I hopped into some clothes all wet and made it to the door. The postman had an envelope that wouldn't fit in the mail slot. It was a package from Ron and Bev! Thanks you two! How nice! I sure hope that the ribbon goes on the head though... We weren't quite sure.
After, we spent the day doing laundry and housework, looking at Kylie in her little... I don't really know what it is, it is like a Laz-e-Boy for babies. It reclines, rocks, and looks really comfortable. But it also has a seat belt and retractable wheels, or maybe landing gear, we aren't sure. Maybe we just don't know if it flies.. Anyway, she loves it, so she watched her daddy do the dishes, and her mommy cook udon (Japanese style noodle soup). Then in the afternoon, as we were changing her diaper again, we noticed that her umbilical cord stub had just fallen off! In Japan, the parents save the stub in a little box. I don't know why. But we did it too! What do parents in the U.S. do? It feels a bit strange not knowing what is the custom in my own country!
