Oregon Haiku & Tanka Society
a n ' y a
an'ya is the founder and current president of the Oregon Haiku and Tanka Society (OhtS). Known throughout the world for her haiku, an'ya is a tireless evangelist for haiku poetry and the poetic forms associated with haiku. She is highly respected for her critical eye and has served on many occasions as a judge in poetry contests. She has done outstanding work as the editor of Ribbons, the quarterly journal of the Tanka Society of America. Finally, an'ya is the editor of moonset, which is an international bi-annual newspaper.

The haigo (nom de plume)
an'ya, loosely translated, means "a peaceful light in the moonless night." an'ya is of Serbian-American heritage, and keeps a none-so-anchoritical lifestyle now in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. This published haijin previously taught Balkan dance troupes, was a former Nascar-track trophy girl, Slavic foods caterer, and a pre-school teacher.
