| Mary Louise Griffith is an in-home caregiver for seniors and disabled people. For many years she owned an Orthodontic Laboratory where she was also its chief technician. A native Oregonian and great grand daughter of pioneer home-steaders, Mary Lou worked in the woods when she was a college student (she entered college when she was 30) and planted tens of thousands of seedlings. She feels at home in the wilderness and is moved to write about it. Her affection for other beings is frequently revealed in her poetry. In her earlier years, she was a glider pilot and was a competitive ballroom dancer. By Spring, 2006, Mary Lou will have produced a recording of her piano compositions which will include "musical haiku and tanka." From her fine arts training at the University of Oregon, Mary Lou will illustrate her music and poetry books with watercolors and haiga. |

falling snowflakes kiss the face of the pond |
dusting my dresser shoes of the baby she lost worn by mine to bronze, or to wait mother-daughter talk |
animal shadows on the wall my uncle's fist and mine |
| Haiku and tanka by Mary Lou Griffith |
relentless fog in the dingy an oar's hollow clatter |
my daughters vie for my lap one born one yet to be |
firtops sawtoothing in the dawn |
snoring from the porch grandpa and a bumblebee |
crow and housefly reflecting the same blue summer sun |
windshield wipers chasing cherry blossoms |
commotion under the eaves nest-building disagreement |
moth on the window the cat's frozen attention |
coiled berry vines fondling an oak |
