Welcome to the 3rd Annual Lost Maples camping trip in Hill Country outside of Vanderpool, TX. For those who are visiting, this is an annual trip to celebrate the life of my father, and to spend time in one of his favorite places on earth. One trip to the Texas Hill Country and you will know why he loved it so much. Thanks to everyone who made the trip! Hope to see you all next year! (don't forget to see the fishing tournament at the bottom of the page!) |

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like my tent. Tucked inside a valley area, this is a perfect place for a family camping trip. Fortunately, weather was on our side. Hot during the day, but cool at night...and no clouds to be seen. |
Looking back in the opposite direction, this tent is Kathy's and the kids...a nylon Holiday Inn. The sun is setting, but the fun is just beginning. |
A natural swimming hole awaits those who need a break from the Texas heat. As the kids figured out, this is also a great place to catch minnows. |
And don't forget the bug repellant. Without it, you will be the mosquito's best friend!! |
Early one morning, Kathy decided to grab a lite breakfast...some milk, OJ, donuts, Pop Tarts, toast, fruit, coffee, cookies... Or was she just writing something down?? Oh well, I forget. |
The sun goes down, the beer comes out, and the bullshit starts flying! One of the nicest parts about the trip to Lost Maples is that there are no phones, televisions, noise, etc. Just a great chance for family and friends to visit and catch up on times. |

During the night, we had a visitor. No, that is not a Texas Cockroach. An armadillo decided to pay us a visit and look around for food. |
If you ever want to see an armadillo jump, and I mean really high, sneak up on them at night and take a picture of it with a flash. For the non Texans, this is quite easy. Armadillos are all but blind, and don't have very good hearing. But they can easily smell you coming. Spook them, and they will run...surprisingly fast! |

The gang assembles on the final day for group photos. Unfortunately, some had already left....but the die-hards remained until mid morning on Sunday. |
