To mark its first anniversary, ORCHID organized a special exposure visit-cum-picnic to Nepal Central Zoo at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur on February 28, 1998. The function was participated in by the foster children of ORCHID’s Foster Children Programme, who hailed from different districts and localities. Different programmes aimed at children development like games, painting competition, and other entertainment programmes were held.

A special programme for children featuring music and art competitions was organized at Shree Krishna High School, Kharipati, Bhaktapur in March under the aegis of ORCHID-Nepal on the occasion of its second anniversary. The grand anniversary celebration was marked on February 24, 1999 amid the function where many extra curricular activities and discourse programmes were also organized. About 200 people including foster children, schoolteachers, VDC office bearers, ORCHID members and many other social personalities participated in the function.
Similarly, ORCHID in collaboration with Japan’s Z-Group Puppet Theatre has also organized a Japanese Puppet Show in Kathmandu with a view to providing entertainment and lessons of puppet making to the children. The separate shows were held at Jaycees English School of Khowma in Bhaktapur and at Bal Mandir Naxal on February 28 and March 1, 1999 respectively.
Also on August 6, 1999, ORCHID-Nepal organized a paper-puppet show at Chittapole VDC in Bhaktapur in collaboration with a group of foster parents from Kobe city of Japan including Kusumoto Mutsuko. At the same function, Suga Makoto of Pasa Club, Japan presented a fairy tale session to regale the children of the village.
