ORCHID-Nepal:
An Introduction
Formally
registered with HMG’s District Administration Office on February 24, 1997
Falgun 13, 2053), the ORCHID-Nepal is a child-focused, non-profit, non
government organization. It is working exclusively in the area of children’s
education and health in different areas of the country for last three years,
with a motto of accomplishing material and spiritual prosperity of the society
through better child education.
ORCHID-Nepal, through its scholarship
scheme funded by different individuals and organizations, has been currently
supporting altogether 180 students from a number of remote villages in
different districts in Nepal, namely, Bhaktapur, Kabhrepalanchok, Lalitpur and
Kathmandu to meet their full range of educational needs that include school
uniforms, shoes, fees, books, stationery items, etc. As
its another key focus programme, it is running the Women Consciousness
Programme covering 45 women and girls from different wards of Bungamati
village.
The
organization has, so far, organized a number of health camps and eye camps in
different villages and distributed prescribed medicines, free of cost,
to about 850 patients.
Other
main activities include programmes relating not only to social awareness
creation, entertainment and all-round development of children but also to
construction and maintenance works in different financially weak schools, and
free distribution of clothes and educational materials to school students in
different districts.
