Pursuant to its organizational mission, ORCHID has already launched a Foster Children Programme (FCP) as its leading project dedicated to development of children. As one of its long-term programmes to this end, an FCP Education Scholarship programme has been implemented in a number of remote and semi-remote villages, namely, Chhaling, Sudal, Bageswhori, Tathali, Chitapole (Bhaktapur district), Bungamati, Khokana (Lalitpur district), and a few villages/localities of Kabhrepalanchok and Kathmandu districts. Up till date, more than 200 diligent, poor pupils have been receiving educational scholarship from ORCHID’s FCP. The scholarship currently includes a total package of predetermined tuition fee, the whole range of stationery goods, school uniform, shoes, sports items, etc.
ORCHID plans to go on increasing the number of foster children in future also, through its continuous catalytic efforts between the willing donors and the needy people. That apart, ORCHID also is committed to ameliorate the management of foster children and mobilize the Foster Children’s Guardian's Committee (FCGC). The FCGC comprises of local guardians of ‘foster children.’
Education materials have been distributed freely to poor, needy children in various places in Nepal on different occasions. ORCHID istributed such materials in different wards of village development committees or VDCs (administrative units in Nepal) like Sudal, Chhaling, Bageshwori, Tathali, Chitapola, Bungamati, Khokana, Siddipur, Ichangu, etc., as well as in some wards of Kathamandu and Dhulikhel towns, at different dates.
