Act 2, Scene 2, |
1; The King and Gertrude have Rosencrantz and Gildernstern (students of Hamlets once) come and figure out what is wrong with Hamlet. The King thinks it is because of his father being murdered and him being with his mother. Polonius brings it to attention that it might be Ophelia and Hamlet who might be causing pain. Voltemand gives info from King of Norway about what can be done about safe passages for this expedition. Polonius admits that he told his daughter to cut away from Hamlet. He even to prove it might be Ophelia he will put her in Hamlets path and see what happens. Rosencrantz and Gildernstern talk about the people who used to entertain them arent popular and the boys that took over are coming. Hamlet realizes that he'll use a scene like what happened to his father ( a murder scene) and see if his uncle will take notice. |
2; The significance of the scene would be that Hamlet figures out a way to get his uncle in his own trap which will probably start a huge controversy. Without this scene this book wasnt going to let Hamlet revenge for his father?s death. Now it will start producing problems and the truth will arise. Im glad Hamlet is starting to think more about what needs to be done with his uncle. |

5. Hamlet really hits hard when the actors are performing with such intense actions. He realizes that he just feels awful about life and knows that its not an act in a scene- how they are performing- his is real. When he figures out how hes going to reenact what happened with father and see how his uncle acts with the murder scene. Its brilliant- this is where the book going to get exciting. |

Act 3, Scene 1, |
1. The King, Queen and Polonius are setting up a way to have Ophelia and Hamlet meet on accident. Rosencrantz and Gidernstern tell the King and Queen that Hamlet won?t tell them what is wrong with him. When Hamlet and Ophelia meet Ophelia tells him she wants him to take back what he had given her. He doesnt want to take anything back and explains to her that he has never loved her, she explains that she sure believed him. He is really up-front with Ophelia about chastity and how beautiful she is. And if she marries marry a dumb man because they will be made cuckolds and go to a convent. The King expects danger. |
3. KING- Why do you think Hamlet has no idea of what is going on? He has caught on to you. HAMLET- Why have you turned on Ophelia? Its not her fault her dad is controlling her. OPHELIA-How do you feel when Hamlet insults you so greatly as to call for you to be a nun? What is wrong that man. Rosencrantz and Gidernstern- What do you guys think is wrong with your dear friend Hamlet? Is he really that out of it. |
4. Hamlet says To die... to sleep... to sleep and perhaps to dream... Yes, theres the catch. He?s talking about how all your life you suffer but when you die your dreams will overcome all lives awful times. Like when you die your dream this wonderful dream that allows everything bad to cease. It just explains how Hamlet wouldnt mind much to die at all. |

Act 3, Scene 2, |
2. The significance of this scene is important because Hamlet has now been proven that the ghost was right and that Claudius did in fact kill his father. His conscience gave in with the act. Without this scene there wouldnt have been proof of Claudius killing Hamlets father, The King. But now there is and major drama is about to begin. |
6. Hamlet says to Horatio- Youre as steady as a man as Ive ever talked to. Horatio is the only one left to his knowledge or faith of a loyal friend. Rosencrantz and Gildernstern turned on him along with Ophelia and he lost his throne and his father all at the same time. Im glad there is one person he can count on. Hamlet is very pleased he?s not totally alone in this world. Im glad for him too. |
7. Im sure that Hamlet is pleased that Claudius showed the sign of guilt towards the murder scene because now he can let his emotions go while hes killing (taking revenge for his fathers death). All of this happened so quickly to Hamlet and has (maybe) only Horatio in his life to trust and confide in, which makes it really hard. I feel sorry for Hamlet but Im sure he'll get even with everyone. |

Act 3, Scene 3, |
2. The significance of this scene is that (I think) Hamlet wants to wait to kill his uncle until hes committing something that is unforgiven so he can be sent to Hell immediately. The uncle cant figure out a way to be forgiven and be answered with prayers since he still has what he took from his brother. The King is going to send Hamlet to England-finally. |
4. Hamlet explains to himself that he needs to kill Claudius while hes sinning when he is drunken sleep, in a rage, in bed indulging incest pleasures or involved in some activity that has no trace of Gods salvation in it. That is when he will fall straight to Hell. That is what state he was in when he killed Hamlets father. It makes total sense to me. But I probably wouldnt still be waiting. |
7. Claudius cant feel too bad he is King and has a wife who loves him and is causing chaos like he wanted and meant to do. He actually really seems like he wants to be forgiven but realizes he cant be forgiven for the murder if he still has possession over what is not his, like this throne and his brothers wife. I dont truly forgive him and I hope that he gets whats coming to him. |

Act 3, Scene 4, |
5.` The Queen in this scene is sort of confusing because she in the beginning of the scene was part of the scheme to figure out whats going on with Hamlet. She really cant figure out why hamlet is upset at her. He explains that being her husbands brothers wife and his mother is absolutely wrong. She frantics and Polonius hears her- Hamlet kills him and she finally starts listening to what Hamlet is trying to say-the ghost appears and she cant see it. Im really glad that the Queen wants to better herself. She should have known better to be with Claudius. |
6. Hamlet comes the Queen and she says to Hamlet You have deeply offended your father. He replies, Mother, you have deeply offended my father. this relationship is not close because the fact that she is what Hamlets uncle. The queen finally starts to listen to Hamlet after he kills Polonius. Hopefully shell listen when Hamlet not to sleep with Claudius. Hopefully now they will be able to be some sort of family again. |
7. The Queen in the beginning of the scene is thinking only about herself and Claudius. She acts scared of her own son, its ridiculous. She begins to pay attention to him after Hamlet kills Polonius. She begins to realize that she wrong with being with Claudius. She is very scared and humiliated-she should be. |

Act 4, Scene 1, |
3. KING- How do you feel about Polonius death? You really think Hamlet was going down that easy, it is far from over. QUEEN- Who are you trying to impress or satisfy? That is your only son trying to talk to you and tell you he feels. GILDERNSTERN and ROSENCRANTZ- Dont you think Hamlet has a good reason to be flipping out? His father was killed, his uncle took his throne and mother and the one he loved doesnt love him anymore. |
5. King Claudius is just trying to protect his own butt. He doesnt care that his wife was just frightened out of her mind, that Polonius was just murdered, and that his nephew will not calm down. For him to now announce what has happened to the public with Polonius might not be a great idea. He really just wants young Hamlet out of there and sent to England. |
7. The Queen is absolutely freaked out about what just happened with her son. She is not really too upset about Polonius or Hamlet. The King explains the Queen that the body needs to be taken to the church and that people will be told and hopefully wont blame the King himself for this awful scene. They need to find out where Hamlet is so they can find out about where the body is. |
Act 4, Scene 2, |
2. The significance of this scene is how Hamlet really feels about his old buddies and about life. Without this scene itd be empty because Hamlet cant stand his friends and in this scene it shows He will never trust them again. |
4. Hamlet says the body is with the King (meaning King Hamlet, his father) but the King(meaning Claudius) is not with the body. The King (Claudius) is a thing. To me this means that the dead body of Polonius is with his dead father and Claudius isnt dead where he should be. |
6. Hamlet refers to Rosencrantz as a sponge, that soaks up favors, rewards and his influence. He also calls them idiots. Their relationship with Hamlet is nothing now- like it used to be. He will not tell them anything and believes the King is whose side they are on Hamlets life really sucks- its just not fair. |
