Act 4 Scene 3
Claudius tells everyone Hamlet needs to go to Denmark for his own safety.�
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern go with him to Denmark, Claudius tells Hamlet to go to
England with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, who takes a deadly letter for the King of
England.
Claudius's reaction is to send Hamlet away from him so that he doesnt end up dead.�
Claudius is just trying to get rid of Hamlet for his own safety and so Hamlet will not tell any one his secret, but to make himself look good by saying its for Hamlets safety.
Act 4 Scene 4
Before leaving Denmark, Hamlet finds Fortinbras army bound for Poland.� Hamlet questions the validity of war and certain death.� Hamlet thinks if people can accept men in war, cant they accept revenge also.
Hamlet and Fortinbras are alike because they think revenge is sweet by violence.�
Hamlet thinks of the revenge of his dead father as war of Fortinbra against Poland.
Act 4 Scene 5
Ophelia is going crazy because of the death of her father and the regret of losing Hamlets love.� Gertrude and Claudius are devastated by the change of Ophelia.� Laertes arrives home from Paris to revenge the death of his father, and discovers that his sister is lost to him as well.
I feel that Ophelia is grieving the worst way.� Ophelia now realizes her father and brother made her get rid of the person that can support her the best.� Now that she doesnt have her father or Hamlet she is going to hurt herself or someone else because shes in so much pain.
Act 4 Scene 6
Horatio gets a letter from Hamlet.� Hamlet tells how the adventure over sea was and how he lost Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
The servant says Sailors, sir: They say they have letters for you. This quote tells a lot.� This tells us that someone ended up serviving in the last scene.� This letter tells us that there must be something important whether Hamlet was killed or not.
Act 4 Scene 7
Claudius sucks up to Laertes to make him go against Hamlet.� Messengers arrive, bringing a letter saying Hamlet has returned.� Claudius tells Laertes to challenge Hamlet to a duel.� Laertes agrees and says hes going to use a sword dipped in potent poison to make sure Hamlets dead.� Claudius agrees.� Gertrude comes in and tells how Ophelia had drowned.
When Gertrude tells everyone that Ophelia has died, without this Laertes is wanting to kill everyone because he is so angry and the whole play turns around because Laertes is now the crazy person who lost everything and starts acting like Hamlet did at the beginning of the play.� Now the town thinks Laertes is insane like Hamlet was.
Act 5 Scene 1
The gravediggers are witty while digging Ophelias grave.� Hamlet just learns of the tragic death of Ophelia.� The gravedigger gives Hamlet a skull of the dead jester, whom entertained him 1000 times.� Hamlet realizes his father isnt as great as he made him to be.� They go to Ophelias funeral.� Laertes and Hamlet fight at Ophelias grave sight.
Laertes openly curses Hamlet because he blames him for Ophelia?s madness and death.�
He is insane and jumps into the grave and pulls Ophelias body close to him to embrace her for the last time.� Hamlet asks why hes so angry.� Laertes doesnt speak.� Claudius reminds Laertes of the plans they had made the night before.
Act 5 Scene 2
Claudius sends Osric to Hamlet with Laertess challenge to a duel.� Hamlet accepts.� In front of the court, Laertes and Hamlet duel.� Claudius drops a poisoned pearl into a cup of wine for Hamlet.� Gertrude ends up drinking it and dies.� Laertes and Hamlet are both cut by Laertess poison tipped weapon and are going to die.� Hamlet gets his revenge and kills Claudius before he dies.� Fortinbras comes in, and Horatio explains what had happened in the room.
Hamlet?s death is miserable, but it was worth it because he did end up getting his revenge with the person he truly disliked the most.� I think that he killed Claudius at the perfect time.
