Scene Summaries
Act I Scene I
Barnardo, a castle guard, was relieved of duties by a guard named Francisco. He then is joined by two scholars, Horatio and Marcellus. These two came to witness the appearance of a ghost, which has appeared the last two nights at the same time. This was the ghost of the old King of Denmark. He showed up that night to Marcellus and Horatio, which  tried to talk to him but got no response. Then a  rooster crowed and the ghost vanished. They took this to be a sign of foreboding, since the ghost doned his armor and there for look ready for war.

Act 1 Scene 2
In this scene I look at Hamlets relationship with Claudius. Hamlet and Claudius are related in blood for Caludius is Hamlets uncle and now is his step-father because he married Hamlets mother. They are at odds with each other because Hamlet is the rightful king but Claudius holds the office. Hamlet is also upset that Claudius married his mother so soon after his fathers death. The tensen is easily seen in the scene by both Hamlet and Claudius. For example, Claudius calls Hamlet stupid and a child, in a round about  way, "It shows a will most incorrect to heaven a heart unfortified and a mind impatient and understanding simple and unschooled," belittling hamlet in front of many people making him look like anything but a king.

Act 1 Scene 3
I think the scene foreshadowed a great deal of the play. It starts to display the troubles that Hamlet may have later. For example, Laertes and Polonius may try to stand in the way of Hamlets pursuit of Ophelia. This is mostly because Ophelia could inadvertently ruin her father and bring down his home through her involvement with Hamlet. In turn, Hamlet could get the hand  of the king thrown upon him if Polonius goes and conplain to his old friend Claudius. I think it is the beginning of the main cause of conflict besides the struggle for the throne, but we shall see.

Act 1 Scene 4
The biggest relationship in this chapter is Hamlet and Hamlets father in the form of the ghost. It is quickly clear that Hamlet trusts his father and that his father trusts him. This is demonstrated by his seem though  willingnessthe ghost has to talk to Hamlet and no one else. If death is not enough to scare Hamlet away from him it shows the love and faith he had in his father. It was either that or Hamlet is really crazy. At this point I dont think he is at all crazy.

Act 1 Scene 5
This scene is quite important because it reveals that Claudius is truly the one that killed old Hamlet. Young Hamlet seems to take it above him to get revenge for his fathers death although we do not yet know how he plans to do it. But by him stating that he may not be himself in the days to come, you get the sense of somethingin his plan  that may require him to act crazy for awhile .So this sheds some light on future events I think.

Act 2 Scene 1
This scene surprises me a little because Polonius sent or was sending a servant to spy on his son. I would think that his son was capable of taking care of himself. Even more surprising was that he told him to start rumors not terribly slanderous but I still cannot see why he would do that. Sure, there must be better ways to find out what your son is doing not that I think it shoud matter since Laertes is in his 30's. I also dont think that Reynaldo can keep his action from hurting his reputation. If Laertes was to find out he could be very agree and just stop talking to his father altogether, which would be very bad for Polonius because they he has no idea what his son is doing.
