I am a native of Louisiana and a 'Devoted' New Orleans SAINTS fan!! My interests are computing, writing, and golf. I am 43 years old, I have been married for 21 of the greatest years of my life, and have a 19 year old son. I took two years of college at New Mexico State University - Carlsbad earning an Associate's of Art's & Science degree in Computer Science. I hope to become a computer instructor in the public schools system some day, even if on a voluntary basis, to share what I know about computers, and also to design the ultimate web page for consumers.
I became a computer student because of the result of a tragic swimming accident which left me a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. Although I will never walk again, I have indeed found my way back into the productive world of society as that I was before. After becoming wheelchair bound, I realized I would have to seek a new career path in order to continue supporting my family. A year after my accident I had strengthened myself enough to enroll in college to which I eventually succeeded at re-establishing myself as a provider for my family.
I started the idea of Operation Santa Claus in 1994 before my accident, (see more info about O.S.C.) but never got the chance to see it through until now. My name Pat Claus, was given to me by my wife years ago because of my effort and dedication in doing whatever it would take to make children happier, and for no particular reason.
I was a big hit with the neighborhood kids as well. I do not limit my attention towards kids just for the holiday season.
It doesn't take much to make children happy. I would cookout throughout the year,
inviting all of the neighborhood kids over to share hotdogs and burgers with us and play games. I'm now in a position where I can't do this as often as before, but I do it when I can.
Even with my disability and our limited income, my wife and I still find a way to brighten the lives of so many children each year! I am nowhere near my own personal goal of giving what is truly needed for many children out there, but I do my very best for them. If you can't tribute to my fund raiser, at least during Thanksgiving or Christmas, find a less fortunate family, especially one with children, and give them a donation of any kind!
You will not believe the great feeling that overwhelms you when you see their joyful expression!!!
