About Alpha Tau Omega

OPERATION APPRECIATION is sponsored by the Delta Theta Chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at Kansas State University. Nationally, ATO was founded September 11, 1865 at the Virginia Military Institute and is known today as the Nation's Leadership Fraternity. There are 137 chapters in the continental US and over 6,000 undergraduate members. ATO is also known as the first Fraternity to abolish hazing and other pre-initiation activities within its chapters.

Locally, we have 144 members and have been recognized with the Top Chapter Award 5 times in the last 7 years ('98-'00, '02, and '04) and also have received the Iron Man Trophy ('03) recognizing us as the top chapter in the North American Interfraternity Conference. We are a non-profit organization that - like many other Greek organizations - plans several community service projects through out the year to support a variety of causes. Organizations and causes that we have supported include the Juvenile Diabetes Fund, the American Cancer Society, Dream Factory, the Arrowmont School of Arts and Sciences, the Manhattan Homeless Shelter, the Flint Hills Breadbasket and the American Red Cross. For more information about ATO please visit www.ksu.edu/ato.

Our Mission for OPERATION APPRECIATION

Our main reason for sponsoring this event is to support our troops that are currently stationed in Iraq. Our service members do so much for us every day to protect our freedom and defend our nation. The event is the least that we can do to support them and say thank you for all that they do.

The second purpose of OPERATION APPRECIATION is to unite the Manhattan community and the surrounding areas. All of the names of contributors - individual, group and corporate - the amount of items collected, and a brief explanation of the event will be written on a large plaque to be displayed in the K-State Student Union as proof to what a community can achieve when everyone works together. Be an active participant in our community. Get involved!
