Just born and all wet, Maggie is a good mamma!!
Lot's of itchies........clic clic........scratch!! Photo at 6 weeks of age.
"Puddy Tat" always thought that cats were the only critters that pounced.....Photo at 10 days
Synbad looks to have a long neck. He also has both of his parents' substance. He might be a good working stock horse........only time will tell. He already has the urge to herd and chase things.........could be cow sense, from Maggie's side of the family.
Synbad is very friendly and assertive. He will leave Maggie's side and come running up, whinnying to me when I call his name, even if it means a half of a pasture away. He will allow me to put him in a "horsey headlock" and give him "noogies" on his forehead and he will nudge me for more!! He can be touched anywhere including inside his ears and nose. He will be a confident, bold, but gentle horse. Perfect for trails and busy/noisy environments.
He has the most beautiful tulip shaped ears I have ever seen, and the first horse that I have had with a 'Jibba'. His eyes are set low in his head and his head is triangular and broad at the forehead, with a tiny muzzle. His withers are good and placed well back onto his back. He has a muscular butt and a nice back, with strong loins and a deep girth. Synbad's winter coat is black again.
He will be a unique and striking grey!!
7/16/06  Almost 3 months old..........tomarrow!
Beautiful head for a boy!!
Synbad had a rough start in life. He was presented with his right front leg breeched and he couldn't stand and nurse for quite awhile, we bottle fed him his colostrum, to keep him from getting too weak. Although, he didn't let it slow him down any!! We have had him under the vet's care since his birth, and we are happy to announce that his leg has straightened up, and is sound. We have decided that Synbad will be the last foal out of Maggie, because this foaling seems to have been a little more stressful on her than we really like to see.
Maybe we are being too cautious, but I would like to error on this side of caution and keep Maggie around for awhile longer and not have to go through the pain of possibly losing her and/or a foal.

OTHER CRITTERS
10/12/07: Synbad has had his first 'rider up'! He was such a good boy and took X-tra special care of his cargo! Promptly recieved hugs and kisses from a pint sized little girl. He gave out quite a few nuzzles back to her also. Such a sweetie and still a colt!! His new owners are very proud!!
Due to unforseen circumstances, Synbad had to be humanely euthanized.
We will miss you, Synbad.
You left us wearing Angel's Wings!
Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.
